I really didn’t expect this from Magical Cafe (Max Kämpf Platz 2, 4058 Basel) On thursday the 4th of June, we went to Magical Cafe with my sister. I knew that the Cafe is organising a fathersday brunch-box (to deliver or pick up). I told it my sister, and we decided to order 2 of these brunch-box (one for my sister her husband, and one for mine). We have agreed with Magical Cafe that it will be delivered. We wrote our names, addresses and the place where it must be delivered, on a paper. Jannick took the papers with her and said that it will be okay. On sunday, the 7th of June on fathersday, my sister decided to pick her order up, because her husband wasn’t going to work. So she went to Magical Cafe and picked her brunch-box up, she has explicitly said that she is Gülbahar Bayraktar Polat. After my sister picked it up I received a phone call from Jannick (Magical Cafe). She asked me if I’m the person who picked up the order. I said, “no, that’s my sister. I am Ayse Bayraktar, not Gulbahar Bayraktar. You have to deliver my order to Breisacher Shop” The brunch box should have been delivered at 12:30 pm. But we didn’t receive anything. We called Magical Cafe and they said that they have delivered the box to the address my sister had given. We said, that’s not our address and we didn’t receive anything. She said she will call us back, but she didn’t. The next day, I received a message from Magical cafe. U can see this on de pictures below. After the messages we heard nothing from Magical Cafe. Today, my husband went to the cafe. We just wanted our money back. We didn’t receive anything!? I payed for NOTHING?! Unfortunately, (I was very shocked) Jannick said that I (Ayse Bayraktar) said my order should be delivered to that address. That’s absolutely NOT right, why should I? Why would I say she has to deliver it there when on the phone I have again stated that I am Ayse Bayraktar and it has to be delivered to Breisacher Shop? My husband is not working there?! It’s not even my address? WHY?! Why would I call them 3 x in the afternoon to ask where the box is, when I would have told it to go to a different address? When my husband said that is not true because he (and the whole family) was with me when we called on the phone, she argued that we have the same last name and that it is happened because of that. I’m sorry but it’s not my problem or responsibility to keep names of your customers apart!!! We have allways spoken German to Magical Cafe Jannick. I thought she is understanding it well. I really hope she misunderstood me and doesn't try to accuse me for herself making a mistake!! I am very sorry that it ended like this. Unfortunately, the cafe has left me no other choice, and I feel compelled to share it on social media. I always loved coming to the cafe with my son. But after this situation, unfortunately I will not get there again. Neither do my sister and friends! I hope the Cafe can come up with a nice solution, and we can still go...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting this charming cafe, and I must say, it's an absolute gem. The coffee served here is good, though not exceptional; it's a solid brew that complements the true star of the show – their incredible éclairs. I had the pleasure of indulging in the most heavenly éclair I've ever tasted – perfectly creamy, indulgent, and simply divine. The selection of pastries is extensive, and they're all equally outstanding. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the ideal spot to savor your coffee and éclair. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and their attention to detail is commendable. Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or a pastry lover, this cafe is an absolute must-visit. It's the best in town when it comes to éclairs, and I can't wait to return for another delightful experience.
What makes this cafe even more exceptional is its commitment to being family-friendly. They’ve created a warm and inviting space that welcomes guests of all ages, making it a perfect destination for families. The real icing on the cake, so to speak, is the giant playground situated adjacent to the cafe. It’s a haven for kids and parents alike, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for children to have a blast while their parents unwind with a cup of coffee.
The playground is a true marvel, featuring a variety of play structures – ensuring endless hours of fun for the little ones. The cafe’s thoughtful design allows parents to keep an eye on their children, making it a stress-free experience for families. It’s not just a cafe; it’s a destination where parents can relax and socialize while their kids explore and have a great time. This unique combination of kid-friendliness and a giant playground sets this cafe apart as a must-visit spot for...
Read moreI really think this cafe has great potential, and I have come here a few times over many years really trying to love it, however as a mum it misses the mark. The set-up is really inconvenient. Firstly, you can’t bring your stroller in, so I have to try and carry my baby, bags and open the door. Then they only have a few high chairs - two with no safety buckles. Other inconvenient things - can’t drink coffee in the playroom, and have to take off your shoes. How are you meant to supervise your child playing and relax at the same time? But they also make it clear I have to spend at least CHF10 before I can use the playroom. And to top it off, the coffee is not barista made (nespresso capsules they charge chf5 for) - coffee is a mums lifeline! At our last visit, there was not much food available, no croissants, just a few muffins and kids cupcakes. Would be nice if they had more savory options like quiche, or toast. I really hope the owners see this feedback as an opportunity to make the cafe more parent friendly. Basel needs great family friendly cafes, I would come here all the time if it was easy for me to grab a great coffee, secure my child, watch my child play in a safe environment. Extra points if you had toddler/child friendly snacks...
