Avant-Gouz — Restaurant in Basel

Nice ambiance and quick service, plus complimentary water. However, the brunch menu (15$) was extremely disappointing. Boring salad with and minimal quinoa on top. The quiche was more like a Spanish omelette and tasted just okay. Served with one piece of bread. I added beef köfte (3 small pieces for $5), while my colleague ordered the French toast ($7, still don't know if it's a French toast?) and a chocolate croissant (likely not freshly made, probably from the previous day). Plus, two coffees. Can't recommend this restaurant for breakfast, quite disappointed for 60$. There are better options in the area, even a supermarket...

My third time at avant-gouz. I really wanted to like it but but it was a disappointment - again. Food is so so. Everything seems to be drenched in oil and a simple omelette/avocado dish is covered in vinegar (why??). But what really bothered me was the staff. Slow, kept us waiting for ages on a slow afternoon when there were not many customers. And when paying the woman was straight up rude. She didn‘t understand us straight away when we told her what we ordered and where we sat (perhaps she doesn‘t know English??? But still, come on) Lots of sighing and eye rolling. Hey it was good. It had a great menu with really nice and friendly people working there. I had some eggs with creme, the creme was too sour but the eggs were great really. Coffee was dope. In general i ll go again.

I did the above review a year ago and i had put 4 stars. I 're visited again a years later and to be honest i ll only go there if i want to have coffee. In general the service was too slow.
