Thai Som Tam — Restaurant in Bern

In today’s world nothing is free. You can’t even drive for fee, cause you have to pay toll. I’m so lucky to have stumbled upon this restaurant. And here’s why… We are from Houston, Texas vacationing in Switzerland and then off to Italy. We noticed generally food prices here in Switzerland are much pricier as compared to US. We still gotta eat and that too a lot. So I ordered dinner for 7 of us (to go) from this small little Thai Restaurant. When it came down to pay I handed my C. Card to Ms. Yaa (owner) and she very kindly said that we don’t accept C. Cards but some other form of payment that locals use (I think QR Code or some local form of payment or transfer) which I had no clue off or of course then cash. So here I am absolutely embarrassed as the food was packed and at a ready to go stage and even smelling so beautifully beautiful and here I felt so bad and beautifully broke. I kindly requested Ms. Yaa to hold on to it and allow me to quickly drive back to the hotel (8 mins drive) and bring back the cash so that I can feel like a king. She then very kindly asked me to wait…. Patiently went back inside the kitchen packed me extra food. Items that I did not order… 1 box of vegetable spring rolls. 1 box of Pad Thai and a glass of cold Thai Iced Tea. And told me this is from my side to you and don’t feel sorry or bad and with a million dollar smile wished me for my best vacation. I was shocked… I told her pls don’t do this instead let me quickly drive and come back and pay you as it’ll make me happy plus next morning at 8am we are all driving to Lake Como (Italy). In return she said then do this “when ever you get a chance go and donat just 1 Euro or Dollar to any place and considered this entire bill as paid” In the end she very sweetly said don’t be sad or down rather keep smiling as smile improves your face value. What a divine soul Ms. Yaa truly is. I then asked her to at least allow me to take a selfie so that I can show it to my family and she said I don’t take any pictures. What??? Guess what? I had to bring my Texas side out somehow I managed to get a selfie but Ms. Yaa being Ms. Yaa wouldn’t even look at the camera. lol… Anyways, Love you loads and always and a Million 5 Stars to you Ms. Yaa 🙏😊 And “YES” the food was out of...

I have the best story of this place. A friend of mine and I went for dinner here. We were hungry. We loved dining here. Initially, it was a little struggle to communicate, but I felt like we were able to navigate communicating. She was sooo friendly and nice. We were unaware of take-out and dine-in idea. We decided to dine in. It was a buffet service, so I thought the food would be served in a plate with everything in small portions. It was small of a place, and we were so happy to be there. When she brought our food, we were surprised that every other thing that we selected from the buffet comes as a one whole meal. We had so much food on the table. We were eating, and the lady was so friendly that she would be asking us if she could serve more of rice and pad thai. We were eating to our best. That was a lot of food for the price we paid, and we ended up packing everything that was left. The food was soo good. Very authentic, very home-made and full of love. We did serve ourselves the left-overs the next morning, and we loved the place a lot more. She was sooo nice. She even was asking us to try some choclates. WE did receive a lot of love in this place, and I would definitely go by again and give her a hug. She was beautiful. She reminded me of home, where love comes as a serving...

“The lady who runs this place is absolutely adorable, we laughed a lot together. The chicken with vegetables and rice is simply fantastic – honestly one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. The value for money is excellent, and the portions are generous. I strongly encourage you, if you are in the area, to come and try this Thai restaurant – you will not be disappointed.
