So, I'm not sure I can adequately put into words just how amazing our stay here was, but here goes... I stayed here for 5 nights in September last year with my sister. We booked a charming king room which was spectacular! The bathroom was the biggest I have seen in a hotel, with a full tub, large walk in shower with a massive rain water shower head and small bench, and separate toilet. The room was spacious with a Juliet balcony (we didn't have the doors open as we visited during a heat wave) and roller shutters over the doors (very appreciated to keep the heat and direct sun out). We received welcome drinks and petit fours on arrival to our room, a turn down service every night (which we didn't have to ask for but was very much welcome), and actually had our tea and milk replaced daily! We ate at each of the restaurants during our stay. Our room rate included buffet breakfast and I enjoyed the little titbits of information given about some of the food and drink available (such as, the honey comes from the onsite hives and the bread comes from a local artisan bakery). Dinner at Jack's Brasserie of course included Jack's Weiner Schnitzel (delicious) and desert (amazing). We ate at the Sky Terrace pop-up restaurant, which at the time was Filipino themed - staff were friendly and the food was lovely. Book in early if they have another pop-up as it was fully booked every day we were there. Then, after returning late from a day trip to Zermatt, we had a quick dinner in the lobby. I have to agree with another reviewer and recommend their club sandwich. The hotel is directly across the road from the train station and a short walk from the main shopping and dining precinct. Bern was our second last city stay in Switzerland (we moved to Geneva then flew home), and I honestly wish this had been our last city to visit. Our hotel in Geneva could not even come close to competing with our stay at Hotel Schweizerhof and I must say, I seriously would have considered staying here and doing day trips to Geneva and surrounds if it wouldn't have been majorly inconvenient. I would stay here in a heartbeat if...

Read moreWe spent a city break weekend on August 14th to 17th in Bern, and stayed at the Schweizerhof Bern & Spa hotel.|The location of the hotel is excellent. Bahnhofplatz is right in the city center, close to the river (if you want to have a swim) as well Bärenplatz & Marktgasse, where the heart of this picturesque city beats.|We stayed at Deluxe type room and there was not really anything to complain about. The room was cozy and designed in a stylish manner. Complementary water, coffee, tea, etc. were available with no restraints. The service team cleaned it twice a day with very satisfying results. |The sleep quality was superb, and although our windows overlooked the Bahnhofplatz, we did not hear any noises, most likely due to soundproof windows. |However, if you don't like being watched while using the restroom, you might be slightly disappointed, as there is a huge mirror right in front of the toilette bowl 😉 Feels weird.|The service quality was good, the front desk staff was informative, although the hotel might consider staffing the night shift with slightly more competent officers. We had one issue to clear after 23:00 o'clock and the only answer we got was "please come in the morning". This frustrating impression was made up by the restaurant team however – very friendly and courteous people.|We had breakfasts in the hotel and they were really delicious. Large selection of cheese, cold cuts, fruits, breads and desserts. The "a la carte" dishes list was long and interesting – we tried a few of them and they were great. |The overall impression of the Schweizerhof Bern & Spa hotel is very good. It is definitely a friendly and reliable spot on the Swiss capital's map. Our rate is...
