Hotel-Restaurant Steinbock — Restaurant in Brienz (BE)

We checked in early and there was no problem here. ||||The location is ideal in that it sits near the middle of the town of Brienz, close to the trains and lake front. It looks like a classic Swiss or Austrian "Zimmer". There was parking across the street and behind the facility.||||The owners were cordial and proper and showed us to our room which was amazing. Spacious, organized, tidy, clean (with clean lines) and VERY roomy. Everything is wood and the balcony (also spacious) was amazing. The roof covering the balcony is at an angle such that you can't see the entire view to the lake unless sitting down but then again the sun was out and very strong so this was OK.||||The bed and furniture was very comfortable. The next morning we ate a sumptuous served breakfast and maybe due to the low season there was another couple in the gorgeous dining room. ||||The dining room also serves as the local bingo hall (called "lotto") which I discovered the previous night much to my surprise.||||All and all this was a fabulous hotel, centrally located, near public transport and the lake front. A delightful stay!

My wife and I stayed two nights at Hotel Restaurant Steinbock. (It was to be three nights, but the IT meltdown stole a day and a half of our vacation time in Switzerland.) The staff were warm, welcoming, and exceptionally helpful. They made our stay delightful. Our spacious room had windows and a terrace that looked out over teal-blue Lake Brienz. The room was well furnished and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a feast. The restaurant, staffed with friendly, hustling professionals, served scrumptious food.

If you want a lovely place to stay in beautiful Brienz, seriously consider Hotel Restaurant Steinbock. My wife and I will stay here when we return, no question!

Do note that this business is a restaurant first, and a hotel second. The staff are fully occupied with their bustling restaurant for most of the day. No one hangs around the hotel desklet to answer calls, emails, or texts. They do receive those messages and they WILL respond. Just not immediately. My wife and I found this not to be a problem at all. But if you are the kind of person who needs immediate and continual attention 24/7, this may not be your best choice.
