Restaurant Augenblick — Restaurant in Brig-Glis

Not a place for travellers.

My family and I came to Brig for a 2h stopover between trains. We found this restaurant on google and decided to come here for our lunch during the stopover.

The entrance of the restaurant was an outdoor seating area and there were a few available tables. However, upon seeing our luggages, the server who was serving a table in the outdoor area brushed us off and said ‘full, full’, then quickly went back into the restaurant. Obviously confused since there were empty tables outside, my husband entered the restaurant to check with her if there were any available tables for us. She told him ‘if you want to eat you have to wait, we will prepare the food slowly’. Another server came and told us that it was free seating so we could sit anywhere.

Since we were already there we decided to proceed with the restaurant despite the ‘welcome’ we received. We sat at a table in the outdoor area. Nobody came to hand us a menu, or let us know where we could store our luggages. Seeing that there was no designated spot or empty area around, we placed them beside our table. My husband went back into the restaurant to get the menus for us. Nobody told us which menus were available so he took whatever he saw (a paper with the set menus and the booklet menus).

After a while, since nobody came to our table to take our orders, we called for a server via the button on the table. The same server from before then came to the table and immediately told us (in quite a hostile manner) to move our luggages so she could access our table. She said the set menus were not available anymore and we had to choose from the booklets instead. She then asked if we would like any drink to start so I asked if there was a drink menu. She flatly said everything was in the booklet and walked away. There was no drink list in the menu. So we decided not to order drinks.

Service after that was slightly better. Just taking our orders, delivering our food and collecting payment. The food was actually quite good. We ordered 1 mega burger and 3 Victoria spaghetti mains. The burger patty was so juicy and flavourful. The Victoria spaghetti sauce was good too, and came with 2 pieces of pork cutlets.

Overall I wouldn’t come back to dine at this restaurant again, even if I had another stopover in Brig. I would only consider ordering from this restaurant for takeout instead to avoid the bad experience of the service here.

Leider mussten wir heute eine sehr schlechte Erfahrung mit dem Service machen. Wir wollten auf der Terrasse einen Kaffee trinken. Zunächst lief alles gut: Wir haben Platz genommen und bestellt. Doch als wir später noch etwas bestellen wollten, reagierte die Servicekraft trotz mehrfachem Drücken des Serviceknopfes nicht. Schließlich ging meine Kollegin ins Lokal, um die Bestellung direkt aufzugeben.

Beim Bezahlen wurde die Situation noch unangenehmer: Die Servicekraft meinte unfreundlich, wir müssten draussen bezahlen und nicht an der Kasse. Als wir dann später draussen zahlen wollten, ignorierte sie uns wieder mehrfach - trotz mehrfach gedrücktem Knopf und obwohl sie sah, dass wir das Portemonnaie bereits in der Hand hielten. Andere Gäste wurden hingegen sofort bedient.

Als wir schließlich erneut hineingingen, um zu bezahlen, reagierte sie erneut unfreundlich und meinte, wir sollten die Hand heben, wenn wir etwas möchten. Interessant dabei: Andere Gäste mussten dies nicht tun, sie wurden auch ohne Handzeichen bedient.

Das Verhalten war aus unserer Sicht respektlos, unprofessionell und wirkt so, als hätte die Servicekraft ein persönliches Problem mit uns - sei es wegen der Kinder oder vielleicht auch, weil wir nicht ihrer „Wunschnationalität“ entsprachen. In jedem Fall war die Situation sehr unangenehm, und wir können den Service leider nicht...
