I have lived my whole life in the American southwest and have been to most of the great Tex-Mex restaurants. Here’s the real deal: the food is pretty ok by Texas/Oklahoma standards. By Swiss standards, this is a 10/10 and you will get your itch for Mexican food mostly scratched. I give the staff MASSIVE credit for making the most of the ingredients they can source in the area to make a yummy final product.
The chicken, seasoned rice, and grilled tortilla on the chicken burrito are excellent. The “strong sauce” they put on a lot of dishes is a kind of very mild chipotle aioli (I guess). I would suggest avoiding that and asking for “Salsa Rote” or red salsa instead. It’s got a decent kick to it and the tortilla chips are really good.
They have bottled/canned beers in the fridge. Waiter knew to offer us a lime with our Coronas, which was great. No margaritas, daiquiris, or other liquor available. If you’re looking for a little change of pace before you get on the Bernina Express, give this a shot. It’s a charming place and they deserve our support for trying to bring Tex-Mex to Switzerland! Thank you for a tasty...
Read moreVery unsatisfactory experience overall - long waiting time, bland and unauthentic food, major price discrepancies on menu versus bill. Should have went to Coop instead.
We were given free nacho chips after having sat for a while, but our order only came after more than one hour of waiting time with no prior notice given. While sitting there, we saw the chef/manager went on home delivery twice before we received our food. It's puzzling to understand why it was difficult to communicate a clearly predictable service delay to the customers when we were just sitting there.
Food was nothing worth noting of - bland, soggy and poorly cooked ingredients. Salad was merely a rough chop of iceberg, tomatoes and cucumber. With or without consideration for the price, the food was really unsatisfying. Makes me wonder if the waiting game was partly a strategy of keeping guests' appetite up so they eat out of hunger.
Lastly, the menu pamphlets showed a different price than what we were charged in the end (10 CHF difference for the veggie tacos). Didn't seem like the chef/manager cared when we...
Read moreWithout a doubt, the worst restaurant I have ever been to. This is not Mexican food, but a really bad Döner place pretending to be Mexican. I should have known better after noticing the hats hanging from the ceiling were not sombreros but colorful women's sun hats. We waited over an hour for a burrito and some tacos (we were the only customers), and when they were finally served, there was no apology given. The food all tasted as if it was cooked on a greasy griddle that had not been cleaned for months. Everything was black and had a terrible burnt fat taste. Save yourself time and money and pickup Mexican ingredients from Migros and cook it yourself. Your dinner will be a million times better and more authentic...
