Lokal — Restaurant in Davos

It WAS our favorite place in Davos 2-3 years ago. That makes the disappointment we experienced last year and again this year (2025) even more painful. The lady that manages the place is so cheeky, arrogant, inflexible, lacks any sign of empathy and friendliness that we will unfortunately never go there again. A pity, since the food and the healthy choices are great. To add some color to our opinion: last year we were seated on a cold winter evening at the second table from the entrance. Even though there were several other free tables, those were not an option. When asked why, we were told “just because”. With this history, when we now wanted to dine there with our family of 4 (reservation not possible), and we were reluctant to take the “only available” table right next to the entrance, we eventually ended up leaving - only to learn that she (the manager) was glad we left. We then went to neighbouring Hotel Ameron’s restaurant. They have two; both were fully booked, but they mamaged to accommodate us and we had a superb evening with service so friendly that the waiter and my son gave each other high fives at the end. I have never experienced such rude behavior from restaurant staff.

Upon arrival, we were informed that no tables were available and were kindly asked to wait at the bar. We agreed without hesitation and ordered drinks. After about 20 minutes, the bartender asked if we wanted to order food at the bar. However, I pointed out that a table for two had been available for the past 5-10 minutes.

The bartender instructed me to speak to the “table master” to request the table. I approached the specific staff member in charge and mentioned the free table. To my surprise, she rudely dismissed me, claiming that she knew her job better than I did.

After that discussion we were about to the restaurant and this same staff member waved at me mockingly and said “ciao” in an intentionally disrespectful manner.

Food here was the star - really tasty and all home made. The salmon burger, buddha bowl and grilled salmon were all fantastic. And the roasted garlic with bread was INCREDIBLE. The whisky burger tasted great but the side was either chips, potatoes, kimchi or salad - the burger does not come with any lettuce or salad in at all so I recommend ordering salad instead of having potatoes like I did. That said, we went back for a second meal there and this time I chose salad with my burger and the dressing that comes with it - home made also - was superb.
