So, this is our first visit to Switzerland (I have been to Germany, US, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai). I am in Davos for a conference, and decide to sample the local cuisine with my wife and 4 year old kid. While walking down the street from our hotel on a cold evening, we spot this cozy looking space, look up the menu placed outside, and go inside. We make ourselves comfortable, order a Margherita pizza and ask for any other vegetarian options(as the menu is in German). The guy gruffly and emphatically says "No". Taken aback, I looked at him confused. He shouts "No, I cannot. You have to order one pizza for each person." At this point, I am swinging between embarrassment and anger as other patrons look on. I told him that my 4 year old will not be able to eat an entire pizza, so we can order only two. He shook his head and said "If you want a fast food restaurant, you can go to that place 150 metres from here". Feeling humiliated, we just got up and left. Back on the street, I felt definitely angry. I have never had such an embarassing experience during my travels.
He could have been polite. It is not as if I would not...

I recently visited this establishment with the expectation of enjoying a meal in what seemed to be a calm and inviting setting. However, I was surprised and disappointed to be refused service, even though the restaurant was noticeably half-empty.
I understand that restaurants may have policies regarding reservations, staff availability, or other operational constraints. However, as a customer, it would have been helpful to receive a clear and professional explanation rather than simply being turned away. A courteous approach, perhaps offering an alternative time or providing more context, would have made a significant difference in the experience.
Since I was not given the opportunity to dine, I cannot comment on the quality of the food. However, I hope the management considers improving communication and customer service, as first impressions matter. A small gesture of hospitality can go a long way in ensuring guests feel valued and encouraged to return.
Looking forward to a better experience in the future, should I decide to...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to go in on a whim, get some wine and pizza before calling it a night. Considering it was our third restaurant that night, it was more of "I don't want the night to end" kind of stop.
Upon waking in we were immediately told that the kitchen is closed and only pizza is available. That was fine by us. We asked for a wine and a pizza pie. The waiter (probably an owner) replied: "only one pizza?!"
It was around 9 pm and the restaurant already had several empty tables. Considering that we were just told that the kitchen is closed, they clearly did not expect more customers. We were confused. The owner went on to berate us saying something to the effect that it was not a fast food restaurant and that he gave us a four person table by the window.
How this makes any business sense is beyond me. In addition to pizza we wanted a bottle of wine and probably a dessert. Again, the restaurant had empty tables and the kitchen was closed.
It was a really odd experience. We simply got up and left. It left a very unpleasant taste. Not the hospitality I've come to expect in...
