Disappointing food and dismissive staff. We have visited the place on a Saturday afternoon. It was reasonably empty and cosy, with an oompa band playing on the loudspeaker system. The fact that it was so empty, while being one of the few places open at this time in Davos should have been a warning for us. The doorman, checking the COVID certificates, was kind enough to make fun of the names of a few people in our group. We should have turned our backs then. But we, three adults and two young children were freezing to the bone and longing for a warm meal. As we were hungry, we were told that despite the front sign saying that kitchen is open from 11 am till the evening, at 15:20 there is no cook and no possibility of eating anything, until someone comes. We waited for about fifteen minutes, more or less. When we started leaving, the kitchen miraculously reopened. We ordered two chicken soups, pizza Margherita (limp, undercooked and generally very sad), schnitzel (possibly precooked and frozen, as it has the taste, moisture and texture of a cardboard), as well as two burgers, local specialty. Burgers and schnitzel we served with fries, which were steaming hot, crispy, golden, and delicious. But this was the only really good thing about this meal. Chicken soup (with pancake noodles, which would be a nice spin, of they were properly executed) was superheated, which makes it very likely it was microwaved. The waiter spilled one over the table and the saucer, but was unconcerned, simply serving it to a young kid, possibly hoping to blame the mess on them. The burgers came on a decent bun, with possibly an ounce of a cabbage salad, named Coleslaw, but having little to do with its namesake. The salad was tasty, albeit small. The burger however comprised a sad puck of meat, with a rubber texture, which looked and tasted like a factory-made, flash frozen burgers. We were assured these are freshly made, but if they were, it is not a credit to the restaurant. The burger patty was moist, not juicy, and uniformly, sadly gray. And perfectly cylindrical. I liked the dressing, though the other burger consumer was not happy with the amount of onion in the burger. These were pretty much all the worthwhile options on the menu. The food quality was appalling and certainly not worth the price. We did not get food poisoning, but also have no pleasant memories of the food either. Service, while smiling and generally friendly, was absolutely nonplussed by the customers and their reservations, possibly bring aware of their near-monopolist position.

Read moreFantastic venue situated ideally opposite the ski lift station. Flammen Kuchen were delicious and consistently excellent every time. Special mention to Jenny who was an absolute delight. She worked tirelessly to look after our group of instructors. Her wit, charm and sense of humour are out of this world. Look after that one, or she will be poached to work elsewhere. The rest of the team were always very friendly, efficient and welcoming but Jenny stood out by...
