Restaurant Shiva — Restaurant in Geneva

We visited this restaurant for lunch and had selected this place as this is the only restaurant in geneva that serves dosa s. The restaurant is located in a side street of the area les grottes, and has indoor seating of some 10 tables and also some outdoor tables next to the road. Its decoration is simple and functional. We ordered a masala dosa and a vegetarian thali. We had to wait a while before the food was served. The dosa was nice fresh, large and not to crunchy. The potato stuffing however we were not too impressed about. It lacked salt, spices and we had the impression it was not freshly prepared that day. The vegetarian thali was small, as there were only a couple of subji s. The dhal, spinach and patato subji were tasting well. However we did not like the beans and their sauce. We were craving some Sri Lankan food during our journey from the UK to Switzerland, and we were so glad to find Restaurant Shiva in Geneva!

Even though they were about to close at 2:30 PM, the staff kindly accommodated us without any hesitation, which we really appreciated.

We tried the Non-Veg Thali, Biryani, and Kothu—everything was absolutely delicious and made us feel right at home. It was a comforting and flavorful meal that truly hit the spot.

A special thanks to the lovely lady at the counter—after I had unknowingly left my card behind, she came running after us to return it. Such honest and thoughtful service left a lasting impression.

If you’re ever in Geneva and craving Sri Lankan food, this is definitely the best place to go!

I'm so happy I chose to visit here on my unexpectedly looking trip to Geneva. This is truly authentic Sri Lankan food and I highly recommend it. The welcome was as good as the food and I was made to feel totally at home by the young lady who was front-of-house. There are several, standard Indian Restaurants in Geneva but this is the real-deal with flavours that I haven't tasted since last time I was in Asia. Truly authentic.
