Ristorante Antico — Restaurant in Lugano

Gandria is so pretty, and there are a few restaurant options in the tiny, lakeside village. We went here because they had a risotto that didn't require a minimum two-person order. I had a lake trout. The waiter, who has likely been working there for years, was very kind and accomodating - when I realized we'd be longer than the 1-hour I put in the parking meter (don't come by car, it's not so convenient - most people come by boat from Lugano), I asked for some change from him for the meter before our food came out, made a dash for it, and in the meantime he had kept my fish in the oven so it'd be warm when I got back....

The food here is delicious. We ordered the fish with risotto and rabbit stew and both were very good. Very generous portions as well. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a tired and fussy baby, and they were very accommodating to our needs. The location is just perfect! It’s right on the trail and at the intersection to get to the ferry that takes you to Lugano. They have a back terrace area and the views of the lake and surrounding mountains are simply spectacular. What a fantastic meal! Service was excellent; they called us a taxi at the end. We had the lasagne, the butter and sage gnocchi and the tagliatelle antico. Get all of these! The bread may be the best ever. It came out still warm from the oven. Wine list was tasty and short. This restaurant is also great for kids. Ours had a blast without screens.
