Ristorante La Büche di Gandria is one of those rare gems that make you feel like you’ve discovered something truly special. Tucked in the charming lakeside village of Gandria near Lugano, this tiny restaurant feels like stepping into an old, warm home. The space is intimate, the lake view is magical, and everything about it whispers authenticity.
The owner was there, greeting guests with genuine warmth, and you can feel that this is a family-run place where love is poured into every detail. The food was incredible, truly Michelin-level, with every dish presented beautifully. Even the silver cutlery and elegant table setting made it feel extra special. Nothing was rushed or commercial — it felt like dining in a secret place that has been treasured for years.
I honestly wish I could give it seven stars because five doesn’t feel enough. Everything was perfect, from the service to the flavors. This is the kind of place that stays in your heart long after you leave. If you ever visit Lugano, you must come here. It’s truly one of a kind, and I can only hope it stays this...
Read moreWhat a find in this remote location! The atmosphere in the small dining room is cosy and homey, but the food is elevated and intricate. The concept of selecting individual dishes as part of a 5 course meal works incredibly well, and we tasted our way across the menu - not one dish let us down! They all combined unique flavours with excellent quality products of the region: my highlight was the capelletti, closely followed by the pork rib that was so succulent and rich I would have loved to eat a whole rack. The gnocchi were pure comfort food, as was the polpo. Rognons de vitello surprised in combination with gin-marinated cucumbers, and the scialatelli came with a wonderful Asian twist. To boot, the homemade bread with olive oil was excellent, the service a delight, and the cantucci at the end a perfect exclamation point to a stellar meal. I would love to come back and will treasure this memory as one of my favourite dining experiences: just great food and outstanding...
Read moreStaff was very friendly and answered all our questions about the place and how to get to where. We were even able to buy a bottle of wine, after the restaurant had closed, to bring to our room.||||Rooms are nothing luxurious, but they were very clean and well kept. The common bathroom was also always clean. The view from the room is to die for. Over looking the wonderful lake, it is breath taking both during the day and at night. Though sadly you cannot see the lights of Lugano from the balcony. You have to walk down a lot of stairs, but within 5 minutes (if youre a fast walker) you be by the lake side and can travel by boat to Lugano. we opted to walk, which took us about an hour and a half.||||If youre there on Sunday morning, be warned that the Church bells can be very loud!||||Sadly we were not able to try the restaurant, but the place itself looked very charming!||||Definitely worth the...
