From a fancy and quite cool initial concept when they opened their first restaurant in Geneva, I now see Luigia as an unpersonal restaurant chain where you feel almost less well received than at McDonald's. The table turnover is frantic, people are lining in queue waiting for you too leave and the service, although not really pushy, is rather abrupt. The waiters are clearly briefed to work as fast as possible, from the cashier at the entrance, to whom you have to walk to when you want to pay, to the barman that you will surely meet since you'll have to wait for your table (no reservations). It's a business model that clearly generate $.. but not one that works for me as a client. Especially when the bill is usually higher than a 'normal' good quality pizzeria.
Their real proposition of value for me is their original high quality Italian products, but more and more restaurants are now emphasizing on DOP / local organic ingredients, with a way more friendly and pleasant service. I'd rather go to a place where waiters are spending more time with their client, guiding them through the various meals and advising on the fresh asparagus that have just been delivered, than to go to Luigia where employees show less empathy than robots and are kicking your chair each time they rush through the tables to throw their meals to the clients next to you. In general, I don't like those places where you cannot book and you just have to come and hope a table will be ready for you sooner or later. It can be OK in some rare cases, but there's a very thin that should not be crossed in order for the restaurant not to loose all personality. The Relais de l'Entrecôte in Geneva is a good example of a place that has managed to keep its soul while serving clients at a rate that could compare with a fast food (it has not always been the case, and they've had their bad times too). Anyway in summary I'm not a big fan of Luigia, mostly because of the lack of soul and the 'fast food' like service. Although their food is not bad, but not extraordinary neither in term of value for money. Could be improved though and has the potentiel to be a must go place in Nyon....
Read moreEver since moving to Nyon, this has been mine and my fiancé's go to restaurant, and we'd go there all the time. Used to love the food, the place, the people... now I just come back for the food, and barely. I always order the same pesto pasta, I'm a regular at the restaurant and that's always my choise, but Luigia has not been the same. Went there last week and the people who took our order were extremely rude. We know this is an italian restaurant but if we speak to you in english or french, we hope that you at least answer us in the language we spoke, not insist on italian, even though we said we do not speak it. They ignored us basically the whole time we were there for lunch, only paying attention to the italian family that was there with kids running around barefoot and bumping on everyone. We know there's a place for kids inside the restaurant but the parents could at least be careful that even though they're children, this is still a restaurant. Our food took almost an hour to be served, even though the restaurant wasn't even half full, my fiancé's food was served cold, my pasta was served without the pot of cheese (which I had to wait probably another 15 minutes to get someone's attention to get it), we specifically asked for no ice on our drinks and they brought them with ice, they got us the wrong drink even, but we were so upset that we just wanted to eat an go... Really really bad experience and I'm afraid you've lost 2 faithful customers. I'll just...
Read moreHad linguine ai crostacei where the pasta was literally swimming in oil! Absolutely terrible, never seen anything like that. We told the waitress and she did not seem to care at all, even though she saw the pasta was barely touched. Upon payment, nobody apologized, we expected the item to be removed from the bill or at least put at half price - nothing. Made us pay a full price. The service itself is so-so, waiters should learn how to smile and not let a client sit with an empty dirty plate in front of them for 10 min. The only good thing was the starter of burrata and prosciutto. Other than that, not coming back! With already just 3,5 stars on TripAdvisor this place should be at least trying to do better!
Update 27.1.20.: Dear Mario, thank you for your response. However, My husband never said everything was okey, he clearly stated to the waitress that there is too much oil in the pasta. No coffee or desert was offered to us as a form of apology. Yes, I did eat half the lobster because it was the only good thing about the whole dish. I barely touched the pasta, so please, do not say the plate was empty. We will gladly come back and speak with you directly, perhaps it was just a small...
