Restaurant La Fontaine — Restaurant in Pregny-Chambésy

Unfortunately we had a very negative experience at this restaurant. While the atmosphere and food was nice, the waitress was very rude to our party, which I understand was a large group. However, this does not mean that the servers can be aggressive and demanding towards their clientele. At the end of the meal, we were told that we had not paid the full amount of the bill. When we asked what we owed, we were told that this was unknown because the accounting system was down. After which we spent about twenty minutes trying to patiently sort out the problem while facing increasing hostility. At one point, all of the receipts from the evening were put on the table in a large pile, some of which did not even belong to our party, and we were told to figure it out. At the end of this, we maintained that we could not pay for something when the restaurant wasn't even able to specify what was owed. At which point we were told to 'get out' and that 'we don't want you here'. This was sadly for a colleague's going-away party and it was very unfortunate it had to end this way. Wonderful bistro experience ! The hosts are absolutely lovely. The (mostly local) wine list is impressive and curated with great care. Everything we ate was excellent. My husband had the flat iron steak (w an amazing not to heavy sauce). This sounds a bit nutty but if you know West Africa and especially Ghana and you may be hungry for kenke and pepper sauce to accompany your fish, Claudia can even procure this for your hearty enjoyment. Great location and cozy set up that has a great potential. Service was quite attentive too. But the food was a great disappointment. It almost felt like the cook has changed, as comparing to the feedback and photos shared by earlier reviewers we felt like we got to a different place.
