Asia Restaurant Turandot — Restaurant in Uster

Spectacular, classic Chinese cuisine. Finally, we have the real taste of authentic Chinese food in Uster, and I dare say, Switzerland.

I asked the owner to recommend something special and my eyes popped when she proudly presented her Szechuan beef broth to the table. The beef melted in my mouth and the whole dish, with its fresh vegetables oozed authentic Szechuan flavour and spice.

I can't recommend this restaurant more highly. If you have ever been to China and tasted real Chinese food then treat yourself at Turandot, Classic Chinese Cuisine and transport yourself back there with every mouthful.

Turandot is the name of an opera by Puccini. It tells the story of a vivid fantasy of long-ago China, where the imperious Princess Turandot poses three riddles to any prince who dares to court her, and commands the death of all who fail. Turandot's Chinese owners both sing for the Zurich opera house. They bring their love of home Chinese food and opera music together in a refreshing, tastefully decorated, setting.

Having difficulties on deciding what to rate here:

A) The food is really good, not the best, however since there aren't many chinese restaurants around the area good food compared to the usual chinese around B) The the service definitely needs to be improved - waiting time was 1.5 hours for food, took already 30 minutes to get some drinks which generally doesn't require any preparation time. And not paying attention to guests at the restaurant definitely should not happen, even though the place might be busy. If it is already expected to have a long waiting time, it should be mentioned upfront or some snacks or things should be provided upfront, instead of having guests wait that long C) The atomsphere isn't really that great, feels like a train station and not too much like a restaurant

Liebes Team Turandot. Die Online-Reservation über die Homepage hat bestens funktioniert. Wir waren heute Abend mit Nachbarn bei Ihnen zum Essen. Wie üblich war das Essen sehr lecker! Und das Personal freundlich. Vielen Dank dafür. Wir sind aber heute über gewisse Aspekte ziemlich enttäuscht worden. Als wir unsere Menüs bestellten, war das Restaurant erst zu 1/3 gefüllt. Zum einen Menü wollten wir anstatt Reis eine kleine Portion Nudeln bestellen. Dies (als kleine Beilage) wurde uns als nicht möglich verneint. Die bedienende Dame konnte aber keine Begründung auf unsere Nachfrage geben. Meine Nachbarin hat dann von Reis auf Nudeln gewechselt, sodass ich auf meinen Nudelwunsch nicht verzichten musste. Serviert wurden Ramennudeln mit Gemüse (als nochmaliges Menü verrechnet), obwohl wir einfach nur Beilage-Nudeln wollten. Ich kenne mich nicht aus, was hinter dem Konzept/Einkauf/Vorbereitung Küche steht, aber ich hätte mir Flexibilität gewünscht. Auch wenn in der Karte keine Nudeln als Beilage angeboten werden, werden doch sicher allabendlich einige Nudeln in der Pfanne zubereitet. Vielleicht herrscht wie in vielen gastronomischen Betrieben auch im Turandot Personalmangel. Dennoch empfanden wir es als sehr unangenehm, dass unsere 4 Menüs in teils grösserer zeitlicher Abfolge serviert wurden. Auch Reis und Nudeln kamen über 5 Min. später als die Fleischgerichte. Bei meinem Partner wurde nach dem Essen das Geschirr rasch entfernt, bei uns übrigen mussten wir das Personal nach längere Zeit hinweisen, den Rest biite noch abzuräumen. Ich weiss nicht was heute besonders war, das zu diesen Situationen führte. Wir haben uns auf alle Fälle nicht gut bedient gefühlt. Für die verzögerte Essensabgabe kam auch keine Begründung oder Entschuldigung. Schade, wenn man das Restaurant trotz feinem Essen enttäuscht verlässt.
