Altin Steakhouse — Restaurant in Zurich

First, the location – unless you're using Maps, it may be a little tricky to find this restaurant. For us, it was pretty straightforward once we got off the tram 17 (I think) at Wiedholz (definitely forgot this). Just a few minutes walk from the tram stop, which is the final stop by the way, and you'll be right behind the restaurant.

The food was utterly good! We ordered the Altin mixed grill, and it was everything we needed for a lunch/dinner combo. The steak burger was also outrageously tasty, and the fries...safe to say it's been a while since I ate proper non-soggy fries. The chef outdid themself and our stomachs were happy that they did.

Pretty ambiance in a very quiet area, you'd be able to have your meal against the backdrop of a picturesque location without unwanted noises getting in the way. The restaurant was half empty when we were there, so we took time to click some photos. The staff was courteous and made sure we were always okay. We also got a complimentary Turkish tea to wash down our meal. Classic Turkish reception.

We recently visited for what was meant to be a special birthday meal, but unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations. We ordered medium-rare steaks, yet all of them were served rare and undercooked, which gave a poor taste and was not at all what we requested. For a premium-priced dish, this was very disappointing.

To make matters worse, the pricing was inconsistent. We were told the steaks were £29, but while already eating, we were suddenly informed that the cost was in fact £39. This lack of transparency left us feeling misled and took away from what should have been an enjoyable occasion.

Overall, we ended up paying a considerable amount for food we didn’t order as described, both in terms of doneness and price. It ruined what should have been a positive birthday surprise. For these reasons, we cannot recommend...

Ich war mit meiner Frau im Altin Steakhouse in Zürich. Das Restaurant ist gut gelegen, die Einrichtung ist ansprechend, und es gibt sowohl drinnen als auch draussen ausreichend Platz.

Ich habe das Lokum-Burger-Menü für 28.90 CHF bestellt, meine Frau den Mix-Grillteller für 37.90 CHF. Positiv ist, dass das gesamte Essen halal ist, was für viele gläubige Muslime wichtig ist.

Der Lokum-Burger war geschmacklich gut, allerdings ziemlich klein. Dazu gab es eine grosse Portion Pommes, was eher den Eindruck machte, dass damit der Magen gefüllt werden soll. Beim Mix-Grillteller war es ähnlich: Viel Pommes, aber relativ wenig Fleisch – für den Preis aus unserer Sicht nicht gerechtfertigt. Geschmacklich war der Teller insgesamt enttäuschend. Das Adana war trocken, die Pouletbrust hatte einen merkwürdigen Geruch, und das Lammkotelett war nicht richtig durchgebraten.

Wir haben schon deutlich bessere Mix-Grillteller in einfacheren Restaurants nahe der deutschen Grenze gegessen – und das zu deutlich günstigeren Preisen. Auch das Adana hatte kaum Würze und war geschmacklich ziemlich langweilig.

Was wir ebenfalls nicht ganz nachvollziehen konnten: Bei so teuren Menüs ist kein Getränk inklusive. Wir haben uns dann ein Ayran für 6 CHF bestellt – für etwa 200 ml eine stolze Summe.

Zusätzlich wollte meine Frau beim Grillteller gerne Pommes und Bulgur anstatt nur einer Beilage, aber dafür sollte extra bezahlt werden. Das fanden wir nicht ganz fair – immerhin wird die Menge ja angepasst. Insgesamt wirkt es, als wolle man hier eher sparen, aber gleichzeitig hohe Preise verlangen.

Für uns war es ein Versuch, um zu sehen, ob das Essen dem Hype gerecht wird. Leider hat es uns nicht überzeugt. Wenn das Essen richtig gut gewesen wäre, hätten wir über die Preise hinwegsehen können, aber in diesem Fall passt für uns das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht.

Ich persönlich würde nicht noch einmal hingehen – aber wer möchte, kann sich natürlich selbst ein Bild machen. Für mich ist es jedoch...
