Nice place, nice view, food is ok, but the service?!? You have to wait, then they place your dish at the table and take it back to bring it 5 min later, you order a beer and it takes 30min for one of the 5 waiters that are running in circle totally lost to bring it to the table next to you bring it back to the kitchen to then finally bring it to you. And at the moment of paying we had to literally run at them to finalize the payment! Now I get why despite the very nice weather the terrasse was half empty. Too bad.

While booking at the restaurant, I discovered that I had no choice for this Sunday noon to choose the brunch option! A bit disappointed by the lack of communication, even checking on the website it was not mentioned and the brunch menu is not accessible. We sat down and no body dared to explain us how it works. Prosecco is just one glass not unlimited, buffet a discretion and hot beverages included, for 79chf… The food was ok. Sushi are made with smoked salmon, and meals clearly made to satisfied 100s of people. My stomach remember the food… during the lunch, we had to pray to get our plates off and refill of water… and finally to pay, we asked the bill 4 times. After waiting 20min, we got a first bill. We wanted to pay, they took the bill and said oh but you paid already… and honestly we said no, and then they realized they made a mistake and came back 10min later with a bill more expensive of 30chf!… 30min waiting… just to pay. The least could have to make a gesture… This is the third time I am coming to this place. Every time I have a story. This was the last trial. Too bad: they have a great place, but food is average and service clearly...

Can highly recommend Lake Side from having amazing views of mountains and Lake Zurich. The cappuccino and cake we had was really good, the cake was fresh and full of flavour. The entire setting and atmosphere of the restaurant was well worth the visit. The prices - they are your Zurich prices , to be expected - higher in the tourist areas. Staff are friendly however I have taken off a star as I had to ask 3 different waiters / waitresses to pay. Had the entire restaurant been full I would have understood that I had to wait, however this was not the case. Possibly only certain staff can take payment , that I do not know. However it is frustrating if you are relying on public transport and need to run yet have to wait 20 minutes to pay for coffee and cake. Saying that one has to weigh up whether this totally spoilt the visit or not, it would not be fair to say it did. It was just annoying and did not spoil the delicious cake and coffee nor did it affect the amazing views we experienced. It was also a great ‘pit stop’ which we used for our walk from Zurich Birkliplatz to Küsnach. Can highly recommend this walk on a gorgeous sunny day. The view of the mountains and the lake are spectacular and you are never far from public transport should you tire. My recent visit to Lake Side was nothing short of refreshing. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle, the location offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and tranquility. The views were stunning—calm waters stretching out under an open sky, framed by trees and distant hills.

The atmosphere was peaceful, ideal for both quiet reflection and spending quality time with friends or family. Whether sitting on the shore, enjoying a walk along the water, or simply watching the sunset, every moment felt like a reset from daily life.

If there’s food or accommodation available at the site (like a café or resort), it was well-kept and complemented the experience. The service was friendly and relaxed, fitting the mood of the place.

Pros: • Beautiful, calming scenery • Great spot for photography, picnics, or reading a book • Clean and well-maintained surroundings • Peaceful and not too crowded

Cons: • Limited shade in some areas (bring sunscreen or a hat!) • Depending on the time, bugs can be a minor nuisance...
