A pretty disappointing experience with this restaurant. After arriving the serving staff informed us there was an approximate wait list that would be approximately fourty minutes of waiting. Given the weather was nice on the evening, we decided we would wait outside.
After waiting about an hour we noticed that people passing by the restaurant that engaged the restaurant staff would be immediately seated as others left the restaurant. When we spoke to a server about this she simply said "she didn't know about the wait list". Taking our complaint to the current employee managing the restaurant, she told us that seating outside was "free for all" and she had simply assumed we knew. Having been here once before when the seating outside was most certainly not free for all, we were understandably confused.
Serving staff became pretty aggressive with us and made it seem like our fault that we didn't ask, even though this seating policy seems to have changed at a whim. Of course we noticed immediately that new customers entering the restaurant were explicitly told this after our complaint, so this was clearly a result of negligence.
After being seated after about an hour of waiting, the food was relatively prompt to arrive and everything was of a fair quality. The Ramen here isn't exactly exceptional by international standards, but for Switzerland/Zurich it is at or above par.
Ultimately, this is one of the worst customer service experiences I've had, even for Switzerland. They are always extremely busy and seem to care little who is where in the wait list, as long as they can immediately fill a table and churn out another customer. The food is good but doesn't come close to outweighing the practices of the staff. If you can arrive when there is no wait I would definitely recommend Miki, but otherwise I will be avoiding it...
Read moreBeware of forced tips when paying by credit card here! The cashier kept insisting on my pressing the OK button on the payment terminal. This was not my first time eating here. However, it is the first time I noticed that she decided I should pay an extra CHF3.-- for the tips. Sorry, but we live in Switzerland and have NO obligation to pay a tip at all, since staff must be paid decent wages. And to insist that people pay for it by taking advantage of their inattention is truly indecent and very questionable.
Well, the meal was ok and the ramen were good, as usual, but the premises were way too crowded today at lunch time and I had to join 3 other people on a cramped and small table. Their gyoza do not seem to be house made but more likely frozen industrial (Korean) ones, though.
Today was not a good and enjoyable experience. Next time, provided there is any, I will definitely pay more attention to their payment process and avoid this...
Read moretheir onigiri and vegetarian tantamen are my favorite. unfortunately, today the service/ staff was disappointing - not attentive and seemed to take the cleaning more important than the customers/ guests service during lunch time. i asked the younger employee if we could seat at the back which i preferred, that was empty. she asked her colleague that had told me, it is not possible because it‘s reserved. i find that strange, because online it’s says no reservations. they kept the back closed. and they seated us in a table of four by the window with two ladies that were no the friendliest. no one made space when i had to go through in between the chairs. i didn’t feel comfortable nor did i enjoy our food where we were seated. the table had no chopsticks and napkins. when we got our food, we had stand up to ask for the chopsticks and napkins. the food was good but after the overall experience today...
