Restaurant Buckhuser Bar Bistro — Restaurant in Zurich

Our friends were staying at the adjacent hotel (Placid Hotel Design & Lifestyle) and traveling with a child, so it was best to go to a place nearby!

Was a bit hesitant to go to Buckhuser because there weren’t a lot of reviews available on Yelp, but actually glad we came here! The food and service were both spectacular!

The restaurant asked if we had reservations, but for a Friday evening (8 PM) this place was not busy at all! However, you can book a table online if you want to be safe.

My fiancé and I split our entrees. He ordered the chicken club sandwich (not pictured), and I ordered the veal burger. Both entrees were served with a side of fries.

I felt like both entrees were very good! Everything tasted way fresher than what I am used to in the US! I was blown away by the food.

Also, +++ stars were for the non one-time use sauce containers! I loved that little touch and wish more restaurants were like this and more...

Sadly, Buckhuser is unpredictable, both in terms of service and food. But especially the latter is usually quite good: Especially the burger and the cordon bleu taste nice and are presented in an appealing way, with the accompanying fries nestled in a little wire basket. The service however has been patchy at best over the past weeks and months. More often than not, guests feel more like a nuisance than - well, guests. I had dinner here as I was in Zurich for work. My colleague and myself really enjoyed our time here. The staff was friendly and the food delicious. I had a small tartare and a big dessert 😋 was great! We arrived there by car and found the surrounding really surprising. We first thought we were lost.
