Samurai VII Altstetten — Restaurant in Zurich

Good quality Japanese food. Came here during lunch time and the service was quick and tentative. Order the bento with rare beef extra as starter. Very full at the end so I guess the rare beef is not required. In the tempura bento box (comes with rice and Miso soup) as you can see from the picture, there are fried chicken 4 sushi roll with crab sticks, salad, prawn tempura and veggie tempura.

I must say, the fried chicken, I found the frying oil taste is rather strong. So it might not be 1st round. However, it's not unbearable. The chicken pieces were juicy, good flavour, the batter was crunchy. So all in all 70 out of 100. The prawn and veggie tempura are much better. Very light and crunchy batter, no strong oil flavour and no oily taste after eating.

The sushi is good quality. The sushi rice are proper well cooked sushi rice. The salad is average. Maybe because I had better and with better sauce. However, I like th sesame they sprinkle on top of the salad as they are nicely toasted.

Green tea, although free of charge, has strong flavour.

All in all, good value, good food and would come back again and try sashimi, sushi etc.

I shall become a regular soon.

(Also to mention, it's a popular restaurant with the locals and there will be young children. With young children, there will be crying, shouting and loud video playing. So if you mind this very much, I would recommend to come after 13:00 as it will start to quiet down. It's a small place and please bear in mind that they will close at 14:00) alternatively, take away...

Very tasty japanese restaurant. Feels pretty authentic and the sushi I had were delicious. Only downsides, the prices were a bit high and service was a little slow.
