After wanting to try out this restaurant for months and getting turned around the first time, this restaurant ended up being quite an awful experience for a few reasons.
Background: I have been travelling for six months and usually don’t have time to write reviews, but feel compelled to comment on the worst service I have experienced in quite some time.
Unwelcoming, abrasive service: After getting turned around afew days ago 30mins before the restaurant shut, I came back again as I was really excited to try. I arrived with a friend at 7:15pm, Yuri the main hostess checked her watch and repeatedly warned us that the restaurant closes at 9pm. We were aware of this. Later on, she welcomed other local guests without questions. I later saw Yuri roll her eyes after we followed up on not receiving our tea or dumplings after our two main dishes were already served (40mins passed), to which when I looked over and saw that she spoke about us to a colleague and started laughing. I felt really uncomfortable, why were we being treated like an inconvenience after being so excited to try this? They then declined splitting the bill, and also avoided any sort of contact with us during our time at the restaurant, all the other tables were given the checks before us, even tables who came into the restaurant after us. One saving grace was an elderly woman server called Boe, who was much more warm and welcoming. Unfortunately it seemed the other staff made her collect dishes more than interact with guests even though she was the most kind.
The food: The food was rather bland, and more expensive then any other restaurant we ate at in Taiwan. Additionally, there is a complimentary salad bar but I only knew about that thanks to reviews. They took no effort in explaining how ordering or how the restaurant works
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting, or locals who would like a warmer environment that doesn’t feel so rushed. Frankly, it was a sour end to our day to the point that I wish I didn’t have...
Read moreUpdate:. Very disappointed!!! changed rating from 4 to 3 after trying their breakfast items. The soy bean milk was very thick, the sesame bread was very dry, both felt like leftovers from the day before (came here at 8 am, they opened at 7:30am). The fried twister was very heavy, doughy, not crispy. Service was great!
Pretty new vegetarian restaurant specializing in organic soy beans products. Nicely decorated with lots of natural lighting and the tables are set with reasonable distances. Excellent services! They serve breakfast from 7:30am to 11am, then lunch, afternoon tea, then dinner with different menus. We ordered lunch set which came with soup, couple sides, a tofu, main dish and rice. Everything had light flavors, healthy eating. Fresh tasting, but not too wowing though. I did like the potstickers, crispy thin skins with lots of stuffings! The prices were a bit on the high end, but very nice ambience. We stayed and chatted for a while, they did not chase us to leave and continued to refill tea,...
Read moreIt's a vegetarian/vegan restaurant without being in your face about it. They love soy products such as tofu and soy milk and they are quite good at it. The dumplings were good. The fillings were nice. We had fried ones with mustard greens and steamed ones with mushrooms. Really wanted the soup ones but they are out for the month. Also I prefer dumplings with a thinner dough. Got the spicy dried noodles. The noodles by themselves had very good texture. The sauce was very spicy and can use more layers. The deep-fried tofu was mediocre and the accompanying sauce wasn't at all exciting. Not worth the price. The small side-dish of shredded smoked tofu was the star and only $50 ntd. We devoured that. The service was okay. We had to signal and ask for more tea and plates quite a few times. It's definitely a nice place for traveling vegans to experience, because the restaurant highlights a lot of local Taiwanese favourite dishes with...
