If you are looking for a quite home-feel place with great Korean food in town, either for dining along or a house dinner, this might just be it. For a party of four, we ordered by the recommendation of the manager: two tofu pots (one medium spicy red soup with clams, one non white soup spicy with beef), seafood pancake, noodle topped with Korean bean paste, roasted short ribs, with a complimentary assortment of five exquisite appetizers. The tofu pots were great - spicy or not, such tofu pots lived up to the reputation (as this restaurant is famous for its tofu pots ) and the taste of the tofu was simply wonderful with great aftertastes. As an adult, the spicy tofu pot went really well with chilled Shochu. The crispy seafood pancake was one of the best I’ve tasted in Taipei (great pairing with Shochu) and the kids simply loved the Korean bean paste noodles — savory dark but mild sauce over chewy noodles. The roasted short ribs were tender and strongly (but not overly) seasoned, which went well with rice or tofu pot. Everyone had a good time with these short ribs. The entire meal plus Shochu for adults and grape drinks for kids cost around NT 2500. It’s a fair price give the portion and the quality of the food. This place is a 9/10; much better than most of the Friday-night-go-to-n-hit-u-with-liqueur Korean restaurants, if you care...
Read moreThis is not a general Korean restaurant you usually go in Taipei. This one is an American type of Korean restaurant. And that’s why I love it. In US, it’s pretty common to have a tofu set with a plate of fried meat (pork/chicken/beef). Before your set is delivered, there are always appetizers serving as small dishes. Same as traditional Korean cuisine.
Location: close to Liu-Zhang-Li MRT station but still require 10 mins walk. Parking: a huge parking space next to Shangri-La FarEastern Hotel. Food: the flavor is exactly the same as what I had in LA. Love it! Service: table service is provided. Price: dinner time. Set menu is about 500 TWD per person (service charge included)
Nearby, there is a cinema (Blossom Cinema) around the corner of Dun-Hua S. Rd. It’s really nice for families to enjoy a weekend night time with Korean dinner and a...
Read moreFinally a Korean restaurant that serves tofu pot that does not suck.
Service is excellent. Side dishes are refilled constantly at request. The spicy Beef & Tofu pot was tasty and had a nice kick. The stew was not watered down, nor dominated by garlic, but rather well balanced with proper Korean spices. In terms of authenticity this place is a cut above the other so-called Korean restaurants here in town.
Next visit will be to try their Korean BBQ dishes.
2nd visit - ordered spicy beef soup with noodles and beef rib and turnip stew. Both dishes were excellent. Spicy beef soup was properly seasoned with Korean spices. Beef Ribs were super tender, literally melting...
