Ordered the NTD 6000 omakase for 2 with extra $ for sake. Serving time between items is very slow and the overall flow is very disconnected. Some items are above average but generally not worth the price tag. No pleasant surprises for tastebuds or memorable dishes. There are many other Japanese omakase restaurants in Taipei that are much better and more reasonably priced (like better food at half the price).
Service wise nothing to shout about and lacked the warmth of typical Japanese restaurants (or Taiwan hospitality). The chefs are just working on their own without engaging the clients and explaining the dishes has no enthusiasm or energy. At the end we were just informed it was the last dish and no enquiry on whether we had enough food / full.
Overall it was a long drawn dinner lasting almost 2.5 hours and we left the place feeling hungry (yes, very hungry!). This is probably the worst Japanese omakase we have tasted in Taipei. Definitely will not recommend this and suggest...
Read moreThis restaurant has very good CP value. We didn’t try their omakazen but I’m telling you even their lunch sets are nicely presented and the ingredients used are fresh. We ordered two lunch sets NT580 each, one Chirashi bowl and one Anago rice bowl 炙燒海鰻比目魚丼 . The set comes with two appetizers (one is a Japanese style salad of decent size and the other is dried bonito野菜) a 茶碗蒸 (unlike most restaurants using chicken or shrimp this one uses fresh clams thus very tasty) a dark miso soup (赤麵豉很多小菇很多料) and a dessert (fresh fruits with 桃膠). The sashimis on the chirashi bowl are very fresh. They didn’t give you some common tuna or salmon or octopus but gave you 金目鯛,沙甸魚,干貝,日本海膽,etc. and the rice is also nicely seasoned. The Anago rice bowl is also superb. The sauce is not too sweet just right and the fishes are very fresh. After lightly roasted, the fish oil melted into the seasoned Japanese rice. The taste is just sensational! I’ll definitely want to revisit to try their...
Read moreoverall, it's mediocre to good. it's my second time trying this place. last time i came, i ordered a la carte. this time i got the second tier omakase. they served baby anago, which i've never had before. it didn't have much flavor, but the texture was very interesting. overall the quality of the fish is decent (and fresh), but i think the preparation is not excellent, which resulted in mediocre sushi. Some sushi was more creative, like caramel salmon.
the portion is decent, most likely won't walk out hungry unless u have a big appetite. i would say the price is pretty much on the spot, with ok quality but decent portion. that being said, i've had better sushi for the same price, though sacrificing the portion size a little.
i would recommend it if you're in the vicinity.
UPDATE: Came for a third try. this place is definitely NOT the best sushi place in town, and ive came to believe its price is actually kinda high for its quality. most likely...
