2J Cafe — Restaurant in Da'an District

Called ahead to check if the place was dog friendly, the owner said yes.

It's a rainy and cold day, and when I arrive with my two dogs, the owner says sorry, you have to sit outside. I have to get work done, so I put up with this to finish my work.

One of my dogs is slightly anxious and sometimes barks at strangers who get close, but he never actually does anything beyond this. It also so happens the only dry seats outside are next to the entrance, so the opportunity for my dog to bark is higher.

The owner then proceeds to ask me if I can move to the seats that are wet as it progressively starts to rain more. He even goes so far as to say "if your dog barks one more time, you have to move to the other seats."

Because I have to get work done, I put my dog on my lap so he becomes less anxious and I put the owner's comment out of my mind.

You shouldn't call yourself dog friendly and force customers with dogs to sit outside. You shouldn't call yourself dog friendly if your response to a dog barking is to give an ultimatum to your customer. It would've been less rude to kick me out than to offer...

The food is delicious, I really liked the BBQ chicken quesadilla. My friends beef-rice-lettuce bowl was really good too. Both very tasty dishes. The coffee is decent too. You order and pay at the cash and the drinks and meals are freshly prepared and delivered quickly. And they clear away the empty dishes quickly. My only complaint if I had one is the quesadilla makes for a very light meal. It would have been nicer and more satisfying with a little side dish or two: a corn, sweet peppers and bean salad perhaps, and/or a beans and rice side.

Still worth a visit for a quick lunch if you are nearby. Some interesting flavours to be had here. Not far from...

Drinks: Great beer selection - From German, via Belgian, Korean to Taiwanese choices!

Food: The food we had was Lasagna & Banana Cheese Garlic thingy :-) (my bad as I don't remember the name but these are the main ingredients). The portions are rather small for me, they might be ideal for human-beings who require smaller amount. Taste-wise: Delicious!

Place: Very cosy, relaxing, superb to focus on your work (especially from 20:00), It's open till late 23:00. Unique building features. Run by Koreans.
