My girlfriend and I made a reservation six days in advance for a dinner date at AW Café Wine Bistro. On the day of the reservation, about 3 and a half hours before the reservation time, they called my girlfriend to say that they now had a large group booking of 20 people, and that we'd either have to sit outside or move to their sister wine bar. My girlfriend specifically asked whether if we moved to the wine bar, we'd still be able to order food from the original menu. The response was, "yes." My girlfriend was busy at work, so I called the restaurant to make the decision. I had seen pictures of the wine bar and was concerned that they'd try to seat us at the bar, rather than at a table, so I asked if we could sit at a table. Again, the answer was, "yes." So, I moved the reservation to the wine bar. My girlfriend arrived first, and they first tried to seat us at the bar... She said that we were told we would have a table, and was then moved to a room downstairs with a very large table and a strange atmosphere. Of course, we were given the menu for the wine bar (very limited and more expensive). We said that we were told we could have the original menu, and the waiter told us we could but the food would take a very long time because of the large group booking...
What kind of way is this to treat customers?? Absolutely shocking way of running a business. We should not have had to move to another restaurant, and we most definitely should have got priority over a later group booking. If you need to mess existing customers around, you had better go out of your way to make them feel good and have a good experience. I'd like to have been able to comment on the food, but we didn't try any. We left and went to somewhere much better and far...
Read moreDefinitely a relax and chill atmosphere and service which is great. However I don’t think their brunch menu and setup is that great. Menu overall seem a bit underwhelming in general. I would come here for wine and snacks and skip the brunch or dinners.
I made reservations for Sunday noon brunch 2 days prior on Friday. We arrived (which wasn’t crowded or busy) on Sunday and their brunch menu of 4-5 things were half gone. Then they substituted the missing items with low quality ones of fried shrimp (probably frozen stock) which is bit disappointing and underwhelming. It’s annoying to make a reservation for place that isn’t really prepared to serve food.
I don’t think they have a serious legitimate brunch that nyc bistros or European ones would have. The good news is there is pretty good alternative brunch spot nearby called Woolloomooloo (which also has a great brunch and...
Read moreMet my friends here for lunch. Suuuper disappointed because it really looked so nice.
Had to wait for our table which we’d booked a week in advance. Orders were mixed up.
Only 2 of our table were offered any water.
Advertised discounts were not applied to the bill until we noticed and asked for it.
Also a small thing but we were not allowed to split the bill and it made it a bit confusing especially as the bill had errors.
Prawns and cream cheese item on the menu does not come with cream cheese? Small fries is 250NTD and the kitchen does not accommodate simple modifications to the brunch menu even if you want to pay more money. (There was no chicken left so we asked to add a bacon instead and pay extra but we’re told no quite sharply)
If you want a relaxing lunch with good service I would choose...
