BeansLab Coffee — Restaurant in Da'an District

TLDR: quiet airy coffee shop with a relaxing atmosphere, solid wifi connection, clean well-lighted interior, and highly knowledgeable yet approachable baristas who pour the smoothest coffee in town.

I have contemplated for a long time whether or not to write this review since part of me wishes to keep this hidden gem to myself. But putting my selfishness aside, this place deserves more than five stars!

This quaint coffee shop is ran by owners who have been in the coffee industry for over 50 years with knowledge passed down through several generations. It is staffed by friendly baristas who consistently deliver the smoothest coffee with a smile (and take time to know their customers without giving any pressure to small talk). Their warm interior is not only impeccably clean(shoutout to spotless bathrooms!), the light wooden counters with ivory furniture and green accents give the space a rare relaxed aura amid a bustling college neighborhood. Additionally, there is always soft tasteful background music conducive to getting work done.

Their dedication to the art is reflected in their small batch coffee beans which are roasted in a workroom adjacent to the shop. If you’re lucky enough to visit on a roasting day, the whole place is enveloped in a delightful aroma~ If you are simply looking to purchase good beans, they also sell bags of whole beans along with packets of drip coffee, both with a variety of different roasts and flavor profiles!

The coffee is good, nothing special. I got a blueberry bagel, a little lacklustre and served as is, definitely missing cream cheese or something. I paid 290 for both, a bit overpriced for what it is. There is a cozy mezzanine area, low tables and cushions to sit on—one thing to note is that if seated in this area, the coffee comes in take away disposable cups, which was unexpected, would have been nice...

An unusual hideout for me as it's not exactly near the mrt yet easy to locate beside ntu. The cafe has a warm and inviting ambience with soft music playing in the background.
