I've been a repeat customer at Mia Cucina for a while, and this was my first visit since their renovation. The new space is a significant improvement, offering a much better dining atmosphere than before.
My dining companions and I ordered a range of dishes: a pasta, a roast cauliflower salad, shakshuka, a Buddha bowl, and a pizza flatbread. While most of the dishes were fine, two items in particular fell short.
I had specific requests for the shakshuka regarding the egg whites, asking for them to be fully cooked. The staff, who were very agreeable, took the dish back when the whites were still runny. Unfortunately, even after a second attempt, they remained undercooked. It seems the cooking method, perhaps just broiling, isn't sufficient to properly cook the whites underneath. Instead, it dries out the yolks while the whites remain raw.
The roast cauliflower salad also had issues. It was garnished with crispy chickpeas and lentils, but the lentils raised a red flag. They appeared to be red lentils, which typically turn a yellow-golden colour when cooked. These were the exact same color as uncooked red lentils and also lacked any roasted flavor.
On a positive note, the staff, particularly our server who was in training, was incredibly courteous and accommodating. Their service was definitely appreciated.
Ultimately, while the new space is great and the service was excellent, I'd strongly suggest the kitchen rethink their methods for cooking eggs in dishes like shakshuka and how they prepare the bean/legume garnishes for...
Read moreOverpriced, and the menu makes the food sound better than it actually tastes. Shared a large Thai salad, expecting it to be spicy because it said it would have raw jalapeños, but we literally had to search through the bowl for the chillies. The roasted vegetables were a bit of a let down in terms of flavour and quantity (and really, for all we knew, the "roasted corn" could have come from a can). But the biggest disappointment was the flatbread (see attached photo: this is how they include asparagus on each piece), which just didn't look appetizing (also it was supposed to have goat cheese but didn't taste like it at all). That said, I appreciate a place that features salad in Taipei (not common), and the taste of the salad was... okay; it just didn't live up to the menu's description or the price (large salads are around $400). If I come again, I would try the cakes (which looked good) or come in time for brunch (which was more reasonable in price). This place is always busy (reservations recommended), but from what we ordered, I struggle to...
Read moreFood is very good, they are not trying so hard to make veggie dishes to be "NOT". We ordered a lot of food. Just some of our orders below: Truffle Fries, it was very good, crisp outside and soft inside, and the truffle dipping were beyond our expectations. Wild Mushrooms Pasta, the pasta was a bit al dente, but it also made it chewy also met our preferences of noodles, the sauce is perfect -- not too cheesy or salty. *Truffle wild mushroom risotto *Grilled vegetables salad *Avocado and mushrooms with Arugula flatbread *Roasted corn and black bean salad with fried onion, the crunchy fried onions brought the salad to a different depth *Super protein Buddha Bowl -- loved the underneath purple rice Sweet and savory Cinnamon apple flatbread was our dessert
Food came out on time and the waiter and waitress were really nice, we will definitely...
