Love how it’s like a hidden gem in the middle of the residential area. Despite the mysterious look from the outside, the place is truly a family restaurant. It was my first time here, but I could see from the way staffs greeted the diners that some were regulars. I must say, the servers here have one of the best attitudes I’ve seen in a long time in Taipei. They were attentive and seemed to really care about the diners’ experience. Okay, I’m getting to the food part. I’m not sure if it was all the other reviews that hyped up the lamb but I did prefer my smoked salmon appetizer better than the main dish. I really enjoyed how all the flavours came together on the plate. It was light and the texture was great. The lamb was a bit dry for me. Another nice surprise was the olive paste/jam they had with the bread. Honestly, if they sell that separately, I’d probably buy a jar to go with my toast. Desserts were surprisingly... disappointing considering it was a french restaurant 😩I wanted more finesse with the plating and didn’t really dig the orange foam around my molten lava cake. Still, it deserves a five stars and I will be back to try out...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place to have a meal. It felt as if we'd been suddenly transported to a small restaurant in France-- except the waiter was very nice. We had the lunch set menu and at 550 NT, it was great value. The meal started with cottony bread, tapenade and butter. The soup (pumpkin and carrot?) was mild with a good hit of pepper. The shrimp pudding (a mousseline, i think) was featherlight and you could taste the butter and cream as each mouthful melted away on your tongue. The smoked salmon salad was beautifully plated and tasted lovely. The lamb shank main was excellent but I think the chicken stole the show. It brought me to an alternate universe where I had a French grandmother who could be bothered to cook for me, and life was altogether better. Also, the chicken gravy was to die for. The desserts were both excellent: we tried the chocolate fondant and the baked egg white. But I saw a lady at the next table eating the plum pastry (I suspect it was a clafoutis) and immediately had dessert envy. Another visit...
Read moreThe restaurant Saveurs is a great surprise. It is a typical gastronomic French restaurant, it is a bit old fashion style but the food inside all our plates was a pure happiness, visually beautiful and delicious to eat.
We did drink kir, choose salmon mille feuille and quiche as starters, followed by two very traditional French dishes, fillet of bars and steak with green pepper sauce.
With the menu set, we had bread with tapenade and butter, followed with a mushroom soup. For dessert, we chosed apple crumble and fondant au chocolat.
We really enjoyed our meal. Saveurs isn't the most fashionable restaurant but is so far the perfect place to have an authentic, delicious and traditional French meal in Taipei.
A great surprise to us. The quality price is very good. We spent for 2800ntd for 2, including kir, coffee, 2 starters, 2 main dishes, 2 desserts and the menu set.
We will...
