The opportunity to gather friends from the past is a most enjoyable experience, especially so if it goes back an amazing 39 years

The Dinner took place at the famous Hot Pot Restaurant, 88, a place we have frequented in the past, the standout as always the freshness of the seafood, the quality of the beef and the special attention of the service staff

An evening of laughter, banter & all! Very special indeed!

That we may have many more years of getting together!

Hi Tien Lo step aside, this is the real hot pot! Top One Pot! Taipei

Meeting up with friends and sharing a meal in Taipei at one of our favourite places, the Top One Pot restaurant! Is the fun way of enjoying a masterly prepared Hot Pot!

Of the 2 choices of stock’s, one less spicy and the other with some oooomph, is a long standing tradition of the friendships I have the privilege to savour!

From the finest meats, masterly presented, to the exquisite selection of seafoods, the variety is just simply astounding!

Of course one needs to get their favourite flavour enriches, wether the simple fermented Beancurd paste, the scallions, the powerful Chili or just some garlic & soya sauce, you prepare your own dipping concoction!

Best enjoyed with a group of at least 6 persons! This is such a feast that will satisfy the even most discerning palate!

Highly recommended!

If you like some flash to go along with your food, then this may be the place for you. Me? I'm all about the food, and Top One soup flavor just doesn't stack up to the other mala hot pots I've had in Taipei.

The service was also on and off. We had to ask for a glass of ice 4 times before it was finally delivered. To apologize for the error, the waiter offered to comp an extra set of yogurt shooters if we finished our current order. We didn't finish our current order, and he didn't offer anything else.

It is, however, a gorgeous venue to host lunch and dinner parties with friends. They seem to be able to accommodate lots of big groups, but make sure to reserve tables in advance, especially on the weekends.

What I did like was their personal sauce station, with options like minced garlic, green onions, sesame sauce, and hot sauce. They also have a great selection of seafood (scallops and shrimp) to meats for...

The food at the place was not very good. The variety of sauces were very few, no sesame oil, no salt, or pepper. Lighting of the place was also quite bad, hard to see if the meat was properly cooked, but I think this might be the cozy ambience the restaurant is going for so it's fine.

Service was also not the best as waiters/waitresses took quite long to clear the empty plates from our table. Table was quite full because we ordered quite a bit of dishes. But this may also be because when we went it was peak hour so the staff may have been too busy to notice. Asked for WiFi password, waiter said he would get it for us, but didn't return with it. Staff may not be as attentive as expected.

We had the chicken soup and it was not bad, flavour was good. Quality of meat not the best and not the worst.
