I've been eating in this Japanese set meal food chain restaurant for at least a couple of years or more. I originally started eating at the Nanking Sanmin branch which was quite good so I later became a regular diner. This evening (which was not the first time in this branch), a lot of things were honestly unacceptable. First, we "politely requested for a bigger table because we always order more than a set meal for each person and we don't like an over crowded dining table knowing that we're not just paying for a NT$150 lunchbox. My average pay is around NT$1,500 per meal and sometimes higher, but our request was bluntly denied even though that it was obvious that this evening was not a full house (even though it's a Friday) which means that there are plenty of vacant tables available. Second, when the food was served, most dishes were saltier than the usual. Then the "dobin mushi" was unbelievably much saltier. So salty that we were only able to consume a sip and left most of it unconsumed. It tasted like that they've just added salt in hot water and there was no umami flavor at all. The mackerel fish tasted and smelled very fishy which was really surprising knowing that supposedly, professional chefs are able to prepare this in a more professional and acceptable way. I remember paying as much as over NT$2,500 for two people for dinner and money was never an issue. Long story short, a real disappointment. Good news, I'd still eat on the first branch that I've eaten. Bad news, I'll do my very best to make sure that this bad impression spread really fast and for a LONG TIME. Good luck...
Read moreI ordered the Sukiyaki Teishoku, which comes with a bowl of rice, a main dish of sukiyaki (thinly sliced beef and vegetables simmered in a sweet soy sauce broth), a side dish of miso soup, and a salad. The sukiyaki was delicious and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The rice was also cooked perfectly and the miso soup was flavorful.
The service at Yayoi was also nice, but you needed to use the Pad on each table. The staff was friendly and attentive and they made sure that I had everything I needed. I would definitely recommend Yayoi to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable...
