The best hotpot broth I've ever had! Highly recommend trying the milk broth! It's unique and flavorful. Even when my sense of taste has been dulled by a cold, I could taste how good it was. And for $339 NT or ~$11 USD, the price is ridiculously cheap for the quality and quantity of food you get. Unfortunately, the menu was only in Chinese, so here's what the $339 NT gets you: 1 choice of broth, a large bowl of assorted veggies/fish balls/tofu, 1 choice of meat, 1 egg, 1 portion of noodles or rice with a slice of American cheese, and 1 grass jelly dessert. You also have a choice of two beverages: plum or red tea. The only thing I wish they would change is adding more options at the sauce bar. I would have liked to have some sesame paste in my sauce. Still, even though this isn't a buffet style hotpot place, I was extremely full and satisfied with the amount/diversity of food. I was also pleasantly surprised that when they refilled our broth, they still used milk broth instead of hot water or a standard pork broth like most other hotpot places I've been to. Service was good; the restaurant itself was small, so we had to wait a little bit before being seated. Definitely recommend...
Read moreGreat experience here! Was recommended to come here by Strictly Dumpling and I enjoyed how different this place is for hot pot compared to back in Toronto. Here all the vegetables and fish paste are laid out in a bowl for you, ready to be placed in your broth.
There are a couple different options for the broth. The first is an original, Chinese white sauce (milk based; I was going to get this but I had way too much dairy the day before so I didn't want to upset my stomach again), curry broth and a malay spicy one. There was a fifth broth as well but I forgot what it was.
The entire menu is in Chinese so bring Google translate with you or a friend who can speak Chinese. Or you can go with all their highly recommended ones and that will be good for you too. You order the meat and noodles separately.
Sauce bar is typical and nothing too special. I was a little sad that there was no satay sauce or peanut sauce but I'm in Taiwan not Canada.
Overall a great experience, would recommend to my friends if they were...
Read moreGia-Fine is my favorite hot pot restaurant. I’ve been coming here since my college days. Over the years, I’ve visited more than 20 times. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the veggie platter is generous. If there are any ingredients you don’t eat, you can swap them out with the staff for ones you like.
They provide power outlets and Wi-Fi, and there’s a self-service bar with drinks, sauces, rice, noodles, and ice cream. It’s a comfortable place to dine even if you come alone.
My favorite is the milk broth with a slice of cheese. For drinks, I love the winter melon lemon tea.
If I had to mention a downside, it would be that sometimes there’s a wait because it’s so popular. There are often Korean tourists dining here as well.
The staff are always friendly and professional. I’m sure I’ll keep coming back in the future. ❤️
