府前食坊 — Restaurant in Hualien City

Being an egg pancake fanatic I had to try this place. Everybody gets the egg pancake here. Al the other parties also looked quite good. You order their famous egg pancake and pick it up and add their special (very garlicky ) sauce yourself. It's pan fried crispy and each portion is quite big. The dough appears to be homemade and is thicker than the machine made type. Pretty good but bland if you don't add any sauce. I would prefer a thicker soy bean paste kind of sauce rather than their very funny...

I just bought a Dan Bing (蛋餅). It was pre-cooked and in the box already. I don't know when it has been cooked, but I would bet not today. The cold fat had made the pastry hard, the egg was cold. It went straight to the garbage bin (hence the photo). This was by far the worst breakfast I ever had in Taiwan. They should be ashamed, but if they had a sense of shame they would not be serving this. Avoid...

Small "cafe" tucked away in a corner. This was a 10 mins walk from our airbnb.

The service staffs recommended us to get the scallion cake which was cooked a la minute which was piping hot and great! Especially during winter! The pumpkin tart had a nice texture and the filling was delicious as it was marinated with herbs and spice.

Remember to take the chilli oil to give your dishes...
