越廚 （VIETNAMESE FOOD) — Restaurant in Kaohsiung

This Vietnamese food bistro is hidden in a small passage (between two 7-11) of a residential building opposite to the main library in Kaohsiung. The owner is a Vietnamese lady who can make most of the food in the shop, such as sausage and French baguette. The price is surprisingly affordable while the food is quite nice. I tried their chicken pho and drip coffee twice. She even asked me if I liked my coffee sweet or not too sweet. Humble Vietnamese fare like you'd find in the homeland that hit the spot on a windy, rainy night. The beef/shrimp pho was good. I wouldn't have minded some more herbs. I could not finish the fried spring rolls. While the outside was crunchy, the inside was fishy and mushy. I was hoping for a fresher veggie crunch but they just tasted...old? The owner was nice and we chatted briefly about Vietnam....

Comfort food. Unexpectedly authentic beef and chicken pho made with ingredients imported from Vietnam. The chicken and beef were great in addition to the well seasoned and refreshing soup particularly at a very cheap price (70 NTD $2.50 USD). definitely a place I would visit again.
