TRAVEL REVIEW: Rawat Indian Kitchen/拉瓦特印度廚房 offers excellent Indian cuisine in the Kaohsiung area. Perfect for those craving authentic Indian flavors with friendly and welcoming service. English speaking staff and menu had English.
Food: We tried the garlic naan, cheesy soft naan, and regular naan—all were delicious. The cheesy soft naan was phenomenal and generously sized. The buttered chicken curry and mutton curry were both excellent and highly recommendable. We also enjoyed a mango lassi, which was refreshingly tasty, and the milk tea had a true Indian flavor instead of the typical Taiwanese style.
Service: The indoor seating area is spacious, with two sides and additional seating on the side, making it feel larger than it appears. The staff were friendly and warm, enhancing our dining experience. The chef, who is from India, ensures authentic flavors in every dish and even gave us soup with our order.
PROS:
Delicious and authentic Indian food Phenomenal cheesy soft naan Friendly and welcoming staff Large menu options CONS:
Prices are reasonable considering the quality
Local tip: If you are not used to indian spice scale just put everything at not spicy. You will still have spicy food but it will not distract. Mango Lassi is not a normal drink; think of it more like a desert option and it is more like drinking yogurt. But very good at the end of a meal and definitely...
Read moreWe came here for a weekday family lunch. The restaurant was newt and clean, with full on Indian vibes. But they were playing songs from early 2000’s movies, that were really bad songs, like no Indian remembers them or wants to remember those songs. It was annoying me a bit, I’d much preferred no song at all.
The menu had a lot of the popular Indian appetizers and main dishes. We starter with the pani puri. It was lacking flavor in both the chickpeas filling and the juice. Then I got the mango lassi that was more salty/sour than sweet. The main dishes were far better. Chicken tikka masala was good. The mutton rogan jush was best dish for me. I was pleasantly surprised they actually served quality mutton, that was tender and cooked with lots of flavorful spice curry sauce. The biryani was a decent dish too.
We also got the regular naan, garlic naan and laccha paratha. The paratha appeared more like a naan with jeera seeds on them. But overall all three of them were soft and had decent taste.
The staff were very friendly. They gave us a royalty card that gives a free dish after ten stamps. The dishes were served in quick time, we didn’t have to wait long. Overall this was a nice place for entree items but I wouldn’t recommend the starter or...
Read moreService: Amazing attitude, smiley workers. Before entering they already behaved pretty welcoming. During ordering they positively and patiently helped us choose what we want and choose the right level of spiciness. They took care of our vegetarian diet. Plus: They spoke english!
Drinks: we tried Masala chai and the Lassi. Both tate amazing and the Lassi had a very special, fresh yoghurt flavor. It had a nice thick consistency.
Food: Pani Puri: tastes really nice, but whenever i ate it before, it was a little bit more sweet and sour. I guess this is a chef thing, maybe in his family they seasoned slightly differently. Still, very tasty! Rice: huge portion, good consistency.VERY CHEAP! Naan: one portion has 3 big pieces. Also very cheap :D Main courses: we got a Paneer makhanwala, a palak paneer and a shahi korma with mutton. All dishes had beautiful flavors, and big portions. Out of the three, the mutton shahi korma had the lightest flavor, so if you prefer lighter dishes, it is a great choice.
The whole experience was AMAZING! We will definitely...
