Gareth, the owner, has a passion for creating the best meals he can with the best possible ingredients. Engage him in any amount of conversation about the food and he'll be happy to describe meticulously who he sources his ingredients from and why he chose them (the chorizo is my personal favorite). His food is simple; ciabatta sandwiches, breakfast, waffles, dan bing, lasagna is probably the most complex item on the menu. The 5 star rating absolutely comes from the quality of the ingredients, the execution and the incredible care put into every aspect of the food. Even small details, the fresh brewed coffee when a customer enters, the muffin when your food may take a few more minutes, the advice on how you can customize your meal, or the hot sauce selection; you'll find a reason at the magic spoon to return. All this being said, the value is very much there, for the $300-$500 NTD you will spend, you will get 2 full items that could be meals on their own. I usually have a rule of not returning to a restaurant in an area once I've been there, but there was no way I couldn't make an exception for the Magic Spoon. It's at the top of my list to visit when I make it back...

I have nothing but praise for this restaurant. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is just right and the owner is an absolute gem! As he is Canadian, you'll be instantly greeted with Canadian politeness and charm. He definitely made us feel right at home.
Recently, my husband and I have been feeling homesick after moving here from Canada. After visiting this joint with some friend, we feel like we were transported back to Canada. I don't know how they did it, but you legitimately feel like you are in a Canadian brunch joint. It's a testament to how well thought out the place is.
We can't forget the food! Felt just like a Canadian breakfast with delicious crunchy bacon, fluffy pancakes, french toast, or waffles, and of course the side of freshly cut fruit! Obviously they have more selection, so don't hesitate to try what fancies you
If you are feeling a little homesick and need a pep, or if you just want some good ole Canadian breakfast, this is the...
Read moreGoogle maps is not properly updated. This is no longer a beautiful cafe but instead a sports pub. Which isn’t what I was looking for so I was annoyed but not why I’ve chosen a poor rating. I can’t speak to the food now but before the rebranding it was amazing. The reason I don’t know now is because I was never served. I came in and scanned the cdc qr code. I waited 2-3 minutes by the door as the owner and serving staff walked past me several times. Did breathe a word or make eye contact. No “just a moment please” or “you can choose a seat.” The place had several tables full but was nowhere near swamped. There were visibly available seats but I still stood there invisible until I finally walked out. I’ve never had a more embarrassing dining experience. I’m sure the food is fine. If you like sports bars it looked like a fun a place. But my experience with the service...
