BL.T33 — Restaurant in Kaohsiung

Located on the first floor of the Intercontinental Hotel, directly opposite the entrance doors. Cash, credit cards and probably e-wallet payments accepted. The bartender spoke English.

Cocktail presentation is good. They offer a good selection of liquors across a variety of price-points. As a tequila aficionado, I was pleased to see they offered several mid-range options but no high-end options. I opted for the margarita, something I normally don't do. Even with upgraded tequila (Herradura Anejo) it was still slightly disappointing.

First off not served in a margarita glass. I'm not normally a stickler for formality but the result was a very small drink. Not blended, but not on the rocks either. Salt rim was a little on the light side. Flavor was overly citrusy and not balanced well-enough. Drinkable but a little disappointing for an upper-end establishment charging $12/drink.

We made a reservation for afternoon tea on 4th March 2024 at 2pm and we thought our NT$3276 spent here wasn’t quite worthy. The NT$1680+10% Eve Lom afternoon tea set wasn’t very filling for two. We had to order 3 more desserts, caesar salad with grilled chicken and southern fried chicken to make ourselves full. The scones in the afternoon tea set were alright and everything else were quite small. No water was served and coffee in the afternoon tea set wasn’t refillable (we had americano). Caesar salad was alright but fried chicken was very salty on its own prior to dipping into 2 types of sauces. Two small breads served with the Caesar salad were quite chewy. Another note, we were disturbed by 2 mosquitos (one caught by us while it attacked our one year old and the other gave me 4 huge mosquito bites). The nice lady who served our table did show her concern and offered insect repellent when she noticed but the mosquito bites already made our afternoon tea experience worse. Sono rimasto molto soddisfatto. Mi sono fermato per cena dopo aver visto per caso il menù su internet, e sono uscito stra pieno perché le porzioni sono piuttosto abbondanti. Il servizio è stato eccellente, il bartender sembra molto competente ed è stato ultra scrupoloso. La selezione di cibi e cocktail è notevole, specialmente perché non sono le solite cose che uno si aspetta di trovare nei generici ristoranti degli alberghi. L'unica cosa non a 5 stelle è il prezzo, sostanzialmente uguale al resto dei ristoranti della città (dove magari la qualità dei prodotti è anche nettamente inferiore).
