Revising my review now that he'll town has come out with a delicious smoked meat sandwich. As a rare quality indeed especially somewhere so far away from a Jewish deli. If this was Canada I would demand 18 unique kinds of mustard house coleslaw and pickle platters that have not only new dills but pickled green tomatoes, cherry soda and other wonderful things no Taiwanese person has ever seen before. Considering this is not an authentic Jewish deli focusing on a smoked meat experience, but a Bistro with a variety menu and that it is in fact not in New York or Montreal but in Kaohsiung, this is a 5 star sandwich. The meat is absolutely heaven to bite into. Melted fatty goodness. Great job on the bread too. Would be great however; now that they have all this extra meat juice, if it was made available to top up on the poutine. It would be shameful for smoked meat and poutine enthusiast to die of anything other than a heart attack. I will come back and order the largest smoked meat sandwich available.
The chicken Dijon panini was a little disappointing. The dough in the Panini's tastes a little undercooked and a little too heavy to balance well with the contents of the sandwich. Chili Panini was pretty good though and had more flavor then the...
Read moreTo be honest, their sandwiches aren't bad, but I cannot give more than 1 star to a place that doesn't respect its food and its customers.
Their menu contains basic dish names, with no additional details about the dish.
So a dish on the menu called "campfire fries" comes with melted marshmallow on top of the fries. Now, it might be common knowledge to people from Canada, but as someone who isn't, I'd expect perhaps a fair warning on the menu, or at least from the server taking the order (especially after having mentioned to her I don't want to eat dishes that are too sweet). None of those happened.
In fact, the server had very little knowledge of the menu, to the extent of when asking her what does one of the salad contains her answer was "some veggies", failing completely to mention it also contains canned peaches (again: it might be a common salad ingredient in Canada - but not common knowledge in other parts of the world).
I returned the marshmallow fries to the kitchen without eating any of it. No apology- let alone compensation or refund - was offered by the staff, which brings us back to the complete disrespect to the customers and...
Read moreAmazing food. If you are craving Western-style fresh cuisine with the proper kindness of Canadian people, this is the place to go.
Decorated beautifully inside. Outdoor patio available with smoking section, large comfy couches and plants.
Get a menu and then mark on the menu what you wish to order. They have a larger, more detailed menu for you to browse through too that explains what each meal is like.
Employees were super kind to us. They had recommendations and were curious about our travels to the city. Made us feel so welcomed.
We ordered the tuna salad (delicious tuna, not made with a ton of mayo, and freshly mixed with herbs like dill.) their chicken caesar panini with bacon, the lava cake (heavenly. Had crunchy bits atop the cake, served with vanilla ice cream.) a beer and their strawberry lemonade, which was blended fresh.
Total came out to around 800NT. I felt so very satisfied and fresh after eating here. Tip - get here around 4:30 to eat an early dinner, then walk 10 minutes to the harbor to catch sunset by 5:30....
