German Soul Kaohsiung 德意所 — Restaurant in Kaohsiung

After a 200 Kilometer ride I fancied a German dish, was willing to wait till 17:30 and gave German Soul a try. Schnitzel with Mushroom sauce, (it would have been rude to lick off the plate).

Pork legs need to be pre ordered and as I saw a few plates passing by, I understand why. HUGE and they were looking mouthwatering!

Then the bonus feature: I didn't order online but the Landlady didn't hesitate at all to drive home and bring me what I wanted. Brats, Liver Sausage, Mettwurst, Bologna and Bacon..... I rode home to Anping with an overloaded Bike. Top Quality and great taste... I will be back for the Pork legs... promised.

Update 2022-08-06 we went with 3 guys for the pork knuckles. As expected they were huge, juicy and the skin crispy as you would get them on the famous Oktoberfest in Germany. But these here are about 3 times the size, so better bring your...

As a German I can say that the food is absolutely authentic! Even Pascal is not from my area (Baden-Württemberg), he makes those Mac and Cheese absolutely the same way as we have them! If you come here, you HAVE to try his salami! They are soooo good! All sausages and meats are selfmade. When eating the Schnitzel, I never found a single piece of fat on them eat (which also doesn't belong there) because he really takes the time to slices and prepare the meat for hours. You can taste it in the final result on your plate! There is a lot of time and dedication in it.

Update after take-out. Still 5 stars. Got pig knuckle for two+ and a few pretzels to go for our wedding anniversary - along with some of their wonderful frozen bratwurst to go. They threw in a small mud pie. Wonderful flavor for all items! We added some Haagendaz dark chocolate ice cream with almonds. Wife said it’s the best dessert she’s had in who knows how long. Had always wanted the pig knuckle but need to pre-order so keep that in mind when you go. ——— Great food. Great service. Good location (A bit off the main road but near the night market). Good atmosphere. Price is reasonable. Portions are sized right. Will definitely come again. Even got some meat to take home frozen. Ended with Apple kouchin dessert with ice...
