Honestly the place serves good food, good portions at a good value. The people working there are very polite and helpful.
The store is quirky, with I guess Bollywood posters, traditional music playing in the background and I guess incense smell? Personally I was okay with all of these, but I guess some people might be turned off by it.
Now for the food, I had butter chicken, a Butter and Garlic Naan and tried veg Pakora for the first time.
The Butter chicken was great with surprisingly generous amounts of chicken in it, creamy, tasty, and the chicken itself was well marinated. Bear in mind is not really spicy if that's your thing, for me that works just fine.
The Naan were pretty good, big and chewy for the most part. They had some crispy parts here and there but definitely more on the chewy side, which I personally prefer.
Veg Pakora was interesting, basically they are an assortment of fried vegetables, the easiest way to describe the dish is Indian style onion rings, a little too condimented for my taste and something I wouldn't probably order again but not bad.
The curry and the two Naans suffice for a one person meal if I am honest.
This is probably not the best Indian food you'll find in Taipei but one with great value and probably the best in the area at a walking distance from the...
Read moreI’ve been craving authentic Indian food for a while now, so I was thrilled to discover this gem of a restaurant just a short walk from my hotel. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of spices was warm and inviting.
I ordered the prawn curry with plain naan, and both were absolutely delicious. The curry had the perfect balance of spice and flavor, and the prawns were tender and fresh. The naan was soft and freshly baked—perfect for scooping up every last bit of curry.
I also ordered butter chicken with butter naan to-go, and I’m so glad I did! The butter chicken was rich, creamy, and full of flavor—definitely something I’ll be thinking about long after this trip.
To top it off, I had a cup of masala chai, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. It was fragrant, comforting, and just the right amount of sweet and spiced.
This place truly hit the spot. The food was authentic, the service was kind, and the experience left me full and happy. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and craving real...
Read moreI gave this place a try as it appeared to be--at that time--affiliated with Taj in Taipei City's East District, a long-standing restaurant which has in recent years received Michelin recognition. What I found here in Tienmu was a shadow of the real Taj: inferior food, slightly unprofessional service, and somewhat oddly the decor of a Japanese restaurant. I have since learned that this restaurant's affiliation with Taj is over, apparently due to some disagreements over quality control. Given my experience, I won't...
