Service here was good. I didn't realize the location was so close to China Medical University Hospital. The ambiance is really nice, especially the way that the plants around the restaurant and the decor inside make you feel like you're somewhere else. My husband and I said this restaurant felt like it was in Tainan or Kenting, very eclectic and unique. The prices were okay. Since my husband is on a low carb diet, it was nice that there were some decent protein options.
Unfortunately, the food itself left a lot to be desired. I feel bad saying it, because the owners seem very kind. But everything was only okay. For calling itself a Mexican restaurant, it seemed like "Mexican" only really came through in some of the colorful decorations and plates. The salads were overdressed with a unappealing honey mustard dressing. I got the enchiladas, which sadly had a complete lack of Mexican spices with tortillas instead of noodles. The salsa lacked salt, acid, and heat. The other side was Doritos. When I took a bite with all three things together, it had an OK flavor but still didn't taste like Mexican food.
In my opinion, this restaurant has too big of a menu. They need to edit down and focus their brand. They also don't really know Mexican flavors very well. I think they need to get a consultant, shrink their menu down to a few very good and more authentic dishes, or stop calling themselves a Mexican restaurant. They could also switch to being more of a bar/cafe and try to capitalize on the good location and eclectic vibe and...
Read moreI know I am very far away from "home" in the sense of L.A., but I grew up eating Mexican food, so finding a place in Taiwan that serves Mexican food is a treat! Now I know it's not going to be just as authentic to what I had back in L.A., but at least a restaurant could try! I mean with this place, the chips say they were imported from Mexico! They were "imported" from the dumpster because they were stale beyond stale! The "nachos" were just some cheese sprinkled on some old nasty Doritos chips. Total "slap in the face" mentality there!
Next, the chicken tacos didn't impress me the least bit. They had zero flavor; there was nothing "authentic" about them whatsoever. I know in Taiwan as with any place, we cater to the local palate when it comes to "foreign food" but how does serving stale chips and flavorless tacos equate to authenticity and the local palate? I wasn't impressed from the beginning with this place. I doubt I will go back; I will take my business elsewhere to a restaurant that actually tries to serve what it advertises—Mexican food, because whatever they concocted together was a very far...
Read moreI was thoroughly impressed! Located in the heart of the city, the restaurant has a comfortable ambiance. However, what really blew me away was the quality of their food.
First and foremost, their service was outstanding. The waitstaff were incredibly friendly and always had a smile on their faces, making me feel incredibly welcome. Their recommended menu was exceptional, and I tried several dishes that were absolutely delicious, especially their signature dish. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and flavorful, leaving me salivating for more!
Furthermore, the prices at the restaurant were incredibly reasonable, making it a great spot for foodies who are budget-conscious. The restaurant also offers a wide variety of cuisines. Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious dining experience. Whether it's for a casual meal or a special occasion, this restaurant is sure to satisfy. Don't miss out on this fantastic...
