Inhouse Hotel Grand — Hotel in Taichung

Weird hotel, that's the best way to describe it. And not a good experience. Avoid!

Clearly not enough staff employed and as such they aren't really willing to help guests out. I asked for cutlery in the room, I had to go down and collect it myself. We asked if they could heat something up for us, I had to take it down and collect it.

The pool is closed from 11am - 5pm. THERE IS NO LIFE GUARD not even a member of staff working at the pool. There were no towels available. When I mentioned this to reception they said they would send someone up with more towels. The whole think seemed ridiculous.

The staff neglected to tell us that we were entitled to a free drink in the bar and I only found out because another guest happened to mention it to me. This so called act of generosity was somewhat spoiled by the fact that the offer was for one drink per room not per guest - clearly false generosity then because isn't it embarrassing to offer something to only half the people staying in a room? The free drink was apparently a cocktail which tasted suspiciously like a sports drink and appeared to contain absolutely no alcohol.

The room was large and the bathroom was good. However, the room was musty perhaps because it has no natural light owing to the fact the building next door is almost touchable if you were to lean out the window. The air conditioning ducts are position directly above the bed so they blow straight on to you when you lay down, which is less than ideal.

The breakfast was predominately local food which would have been great if it was well made. Needless to say it was cheap and nasty. There was only one poor woman working the entire restaurant.

On check out again only one guy to check out the entire hotel.

This is a well situated hotel. The rooms are well appointed. Good style and a warm feeling. Well decorated with good size. The bathroom has a great tub which is nice and deep and with a faucet that allows it to be filled quickly to avoid a huge wait, which is really well designed. The bar in the evening has a good bar tender who served us some great cocktails. Service at the front desk sadly let’s the place down. First impressions sucked and the girl was really miserable towards guests. Same was true at checkout. Breakfast was nothing special. The car park below the property has elevator stacked parking which is quite restrictive in size. Not suitable for low sports cars and long sedans are a tight fit. If service at the front desk was better and breakfast improved it would easily earn four stars or...

Hotel is quite new and well located. Room was spacious with a very nice deep bath up! Very comfortable bed and fluffy pillows! Bartender served good cocktails. Pina colada and espresso martini were really good we ended up ordering another rounds! However there’re few major drawbacks: unprofessional and grumpy lobby staff, couldn’t find our reservations for a long time and kept touching my phone (a big no no during pandemic!) by the time she did, she only gave me one room key (we booked two rooms) so we had to wait again for her to try to find our other booking. Very limited and bland Taiwanese breakfast. Small elevated parking space. You need to be a really good driver with a relatively small car to be able to park there comfortably. Visited in...
