A great Taiwanese local restaurant especially milky fish dishes. There is no aircon so it can be hot during day time. The prices are very good so it is kind of a budget restaurant and the seating is quite crowded. There is also a long queue for takeaway options. The porridge shop is also very popular and great for a quick bite! In addition, there are plenty of other Taiwanese dishes you can enjoy but it may take a bit longer to cook. Cash seems to be preferred and I am not sure whether you can pay by credit card / debit card, so please check.

Really liked the soup with fish balls. Egg was fully precooked so that was not worth the money. Dough sticks with gravy were OK. Just wish it was fresher/hotter. Fried fish was delicious but watch out for tiny bones! Long line no matter what time of day it is even close to closing time when I went. But the line moved quickly since everyone usually only stays for 15-20min at most and you can usually find a spot to share with another patron pretty easily.

Solid place! Not sure how English friendly. Everything is in Chinese and I had a local friend help order. Had some solid fish skin soup and other things. Best part about this place was at 130pm it was not busy at all. So plan food accordingly and come then, and you’ll get food quickly and deliciously! Also it’s right along the river so it’s nice and cool along with being a beautiful location. I recommend this to any traveler coming to Tainan!

It was a very 'fishy' meal in a small restaurant with a great atmosphere. The menu wasn't extensive but the place definitely knew how to cook fish. The fishballs were amazing! I wish they didn't run out of cabbage or braised tofu though, would have loved to try those. There's a bus stop right outside the restaurant that goes to the city and this place is a 20-30 minute walk from the Tree House or Fort.

We ordered the 虱目肉粥，虱目魚丸湯，肉燥飯...all good. We also ordered the 虱目魚羹湯 thinking it was the thick soup...it wasn't. It was fish broth (still good but we would've just ordered the regular fish ball soup instead.) Overall-fresh fish, decent prices, plenty of seating, already crowded at 7am in the morning. I would recommend you take your out-of-town visitors here for a taste of traditional Tainan food.

A famous shop that specialises in fish soup! We tried the fish porridge and soup with fishballs. The fish porridge had a nice flavour without being fishy at all. The fishballs were nicely done with a firm texture. Be sure to try the wasabi (bright green) sauce which went suprsingly well with the fish! 4 stars because it was on the pricier side for a road side stall! But definitely worth a try
