Yonlin Restaurant — Restaurant in Tainan

We went to Yonlin for dinner in January under high recommendations and it did not disappoint. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised at the overall experience.

Visiting Taiwan for the first time from New York, I have three very picky eaters (including my husband) who mainly asked for McDonald's or pizza while we were there. At various restaurants that we had been to, though my boys did try a bite of everything, they wouldn't eat the dishes because of unfamiliar flavors. However at Yonlin, they were inhaling all the dishes served on the table. They LOVED dipping their beef in the broth to cook for themselves. They must have had at least 4 dishes of the beef along with other dishes (fried rice, shrimp, fish, chicken). The food was extremely fresh. You can just tell that the restaurant uses fresh ingredients and natural seasonings. The service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant was also very clean which made a huge impression. Our friends took us to this local beef hotpot restaurant for dinner, it’s quite a unique dining experience. Food was good and the beers and wines are very reasonably priced, selection was also better than expected. However, we saw a few big “insects” that really bothered us.

It’s famous for the hand sliced local beef, which is fresh and not been frozen. The hotpot had lots of miscellaneous ingredients inside, and lots more you can order more from the menu. I visited this restaurant every time I came to Tainan. Comfortable seats. Air-conditioned. Delicious fresh beef hotpot. Pork (梅肉) and squid meatballs are also recommended.
