Coba Sushi — Restaurant in Wanhua District

Very nice and cozy japanese-style restaurant. The atmosphere is truly fascinating and managed to bring us back some memories of our japan trip. The service is also very friendly, they speak english and offered us free desert, soup and tea!

The food was a bit disappointing though, the sushi in particular. Given the restaurant name, we thought this place was specialized in sushi, however they offered all sort of japanese dishes. The problem is that the sushi seemed to be their weak link, as the fish was not the main protagonist. The California rolls were also quite messy, sitting on a sauce covering the true taste of the ingredients. The fried chicken rice was quite good. The free deserted was presented very nicely...

Really don't understand why people gave them Such a high score, went there 2 nights ago, order the special chirashi, first, the fish doesn't taste really fresh and the sushi rice have no favor in it. My hubby is vegetarian so we order the veggie undo which taste ok but the inari sushi have pork puff in it and the waiter had no idea about it and it take them 10 minutes to confirm it with me. Tea is self serve which is fine if they actually have tea in the pot, we dod order some sake to go with the dinner, but it is just feel so weird to not have tea at all . You need to take off the shoes to go in. That's the first thing to know. There are not so many tables inside, but indeed showcases the Japanese style. We had a reservation, but there was another group of five walk-in customers that sat next to us. They were served basically faster than us, but we weren't in a hurry.
