Hotel Riverview Taipei — Hotel in Taipei

DO NOT stay in this hotel unless you want to ruin your holiday. I am currently staying in this hotel, specifically in the Twin Room, and did not imagine my holiday to end this way.

First, the rooms are TOO dirty. When we first checked in, we noticed several stains on BOTH bedsheets - dirt, food stains and the furnitures are also stained and in shabby conditions. This was unacceptable to me because as a 4-star hotel, the least I expect is basic cleanliness so that I can sleep comfortably.

Second, our toilet door lock was not functioning. This oversight baffled me because is it not the hotel's responsibility to ensure that basic amenities are working? After raising it up to the receptionist, they had to send a repairman to fix it.

Third, honestly, it might have been the fact that our previous hotel in Hualien was amazing, but the service here is absolutely terrible. There is zero proactiveness and friendliness from the receptionist. One example was when we first arrived and enquired about their advertised shuttle bus service (on their website). Upon asking it, they simply said they don't offer this anymore. Shouldn't the hotel update its website then? Such services play a role in customers' decision of a hotel. Another example is when I provided feedback of the stains and faulty door lock - to which the receptionist just said ok and apologies for that. I had hoped for them to go the long way and understand more, but it seems like this is not something new that they had heard.

Fourth, sure, the hotel is located 10mins away from Ximen MRT. What the hotel doesn't tell you that it is the location is not convenient in that it is located in quite an isolated area. Further, the view from the hotel does not align with their name of Hotel RIVERVIEW. I have seen better views from some other random alleyways.

Overall, the hotel is in a VERY OLD and not well maintained condition. The sheets are all stained - yes, we requested for the housekeeper to replace all sheets after finding stains BUT the new ones were still stained. The kettle was also left with, I'm assuming, the previous occupants' liquids - which absolutely terrified us from washing and reusing it. The ceiling and walls are cracked, the furnitures and sheets are stained - and may I add, presumed to have mites as our bodies were ITCHING the minute we laid down. We ended up having to sleep on the wooden chairs which we sanitized ourselves. The WiFi here has a really bad connection, is password-free, and is unsecured. May I also add - this is NOT the cheapest option. What a huge disappointment and regret. I hate this hotel...

Rooms were pretty small (shared a twin room with a friend), but view was overlooking the adjacent river. Friendly reception staff who were willing to assist and provide information regarding transport to surrounding tourist destinations. Location was abit of a walk from the MRT station through Ximending shopping area. Unfortunately, we had bought some tidbits and left them in the hotel over an afternoon, but were dismayed to find a cockroach in the shopping bag when we arrived back to the hotel room later that...

Stayed here for 3 nights. The place is on a more quiet part of ximending (have walk through a shady backstreet region to get to the hotel), near the expressway. You can hear a little of the cars passing by even on the 10th floor. Im a heavy sleeper so it was ok for me. The hotel room was small (as expected of a hotel in taipei) , it was relatively clean, although we found a small cockroach in both our rooms on the 3rd night. Staff are otherwise friendly and nice.
