It was an old-fashion, butique-style restaurant. The food was alright and the price is reasonable considering we got lobster and toro. I might actually enjoy the food if it wasn't for the service. After seating, the owner greeted with us while we were waiting for the last person in our party arrived, and never left our table side since. She rudely interrupted our conversation and dining, shockingly drank our beer to start, unpleasently put food into our friend's mouth, presisted her monologue about how she runs her business and her upcoming reservations. She created awkward moments and disrupted her own creation -- the moment to enjoy food. Also, it was a gathering with friends who haven't seen each other for a long time and it was difficult to arrange time together. We really would have used the dining time to catch up, but we didn't had any chance because of her consistent interruption. I signeled her by ignoring her and shifting conversation back to our friends, man, but she presisted! She NEEDS that attention! At the end I had enough and literally told her 'why don't you take a break.' Geehz! I got the Taiwanese kind of getting connected with your customers, and I have certain level of tolernace of that. The lady boss likes to drink with customers and chat. People who prefer to dine in peace might find the environment a little uncomfortable. Be warned that the lady boss did say she will be upset if customers said her food is bad (apparently she tends to scold customers). We witnessed her scolding her staff on a few occasions
The meals for each table varies based on what the chef has cooked and the lady boss will instruct the waitress to serve to which table. As a result, the final price followed a variable structure and we paid higher than what was earlier discussed with the lady boss via Facebook. To be fair, the lady boss caution us amid our meal that the final price might be higher depending on the dishes served and she tried to adhere to our budget.
I am deducting an additional star because of how the payment experience left a sour taste. When footing the bill, the cashier initially informed us it was 3,960 NTD (higher than our aligned budget of 3,600 NTD perhaps because of the alcohol that we were convinced to order) before changing it to 4,290 NTD because they forgot to include a dish in the bill. She tried to convince us it was okay as some snacks were "complementary".
