Last weekend, I finally visited City Garden Catering after hearing so much about it—and I have to say, it truly lives up to the hype in many ways.
🌿 First Impressions & Ambience
As I entered through the main gate, I was immediately struck by the peaceful, garden-like atmosphere. The outdoor dining area is beautifully arranged under large umbrellas, surrounded by green plants, and there’s a large open space that feels airy and relaxing. It’s not your average restaurant—it’s more like a mini-resort in the city.
Children were playing in the playground near the corner, and the sound of soft music blended well with the gentle splashes from the swimming pool. The environment felt very family-friendly, but still suitable for a casual meet-up or a quiet meal with friends.
🍽️ Food & Service
I ordered the chicken tikka makange—a spicy grilled chicken dish served sizzling hot on a platter with fresh veggies. The flavor was deep and smoky, with just the right amount of heat. I also had a side of chips and a freshly made passion fruit juice that was incredibly refreshing.
Before the main meal, the staff brought out some complimentary buttered bread and coconut sauce, which was a pleasant surprise. The food arrived in under 20 minutes, and the waitstaff were friendly and quick to assist with any requests.
One thing I appreciated was how the waiter explained the menu items patiently when I asked about some of the local dishes. Their hospitality really stood out.
🏊♂️ Facilities
After eating, I took a walk around the grounds. The swimming pool is well-maintained and seemed popular with both kids and adults. There’s a clean changing area nearby, though it could benefit from a small renovation. I also spotted a go-kart track, which added a fun, playful vibe to the whole experience.
Families were lounging by the poolside, and a few groups were gathered around big screens showing a football match. The atmosphere was lively but not overwhelming.
🅿️ Parking & Safety
Parking was easy—there’s a spacious, camera-monitored lot just outside. I felt completely safe leaving my car there, which isn’t always the case at restaurants in busy parts of Dar.
📝 Final Thoughts
City Garden Catering is more than just a place to eat—it’s a full-day experience if you want it to be. Whether you’re there for a swim, a family outing, or just some really good local food, it delivers. It’s not the cheapest place in town, but for what you get—the ambience, the activities, and the food quality—it’s absolutely worth...
Read moreI got the chicken tikka makange priced at 18,000 and comes with chips. This was actually good and tasty Also ordered just normal fried chicken and chips priced at 15,000. Now this was really dry and a kuku portion was ridiculously small. For that price versus what the makange offers I’d recommend taking the makange instead and add the 3000 as it becomes more worth it
The place itself was annoyingly loud. If you want to go to a quiet place during the weekend then maybe this is not it. The pool and kids games looked alright but again expensive!! The...
