CBD Hotel — Hotel in Dar es-Salaam

Great staff, great food, great managment !!

The location of this hotel is absolutely no.1 (300m from ferry to Zanzibar, on the straight main road which takes you direct to airport). At the time of my stay thay had small issue with swimming pool that wasnt available although given this Covid climate it was quite understandable. Nevertheless ... immediately after I have learnt that I am not going to swim today )) I was approached by hotel manager who sinceriely appologised and offered me free laundry which came very handy since i have returned from 1 week travels through Tanzania. Laundry was perfectly done, all nicely folded, top class !

It is very spacious hotel, you DONT FEEL CROWDED at all, wifi very fast internet works without issues .... and of course, THEY DO NOT BLOCK YOUR DOWNLOAD as in Colloseum Boutique hotel which i have experience prior staying in this one. On groundfloor in lobby area you have lots of tables, chairs, desks, powerpoints ..... very nice place to stay, have a drink, meal and do some work on your comp or just relax.

Room: very nice and logic layout, all equipment present and perfectly working as advertised, even your huge windows are facing busy main road which takes you to airport - you dont hear a thing !!! Its all perfectly insulated. Shower has a great pressure with constant hot water. Wifi worked in room without any problems. TV - Samsung HD with cable programms. And was spotless clean. Just check the hairdryer cable ))). Not a speck of dust.

I shall not hesitate a second to stay there again and can only recommend .... especialy for everyone who wants to be close to ferry or have easy access to airpot.

At the end my special thanks to the manager of this hotel - the lady behaved in upmost professional manner and was able to wipe off the small negative issue which i had immediately with her honesty, simple apology and ability to offer a nice gesture for her...

In General I really would like to give the hotel 5 stars … I was really happy when I made check out … but I can’t because of many points .. will start with the positive side : room is more than ok , clean, will maintained with beautiful African style furnitures, window with nice view, strong light, has: TV bridge & save box… bathroom : big & clean with a strong hot and cold water , soaps shampoo body lotion and hair dryer nice pool, equipped sport hall, big reception and good restaurant with a delicious local/Indian open buffet for breakfast friendly staff good 🛜 WiFi acceptable value of money

Now the Negative side .. I know it’s Africa and it’s hot … but there were many insects in my (( closed )) room I made a reservation for 2 adults and one child .. what I got 4 bellows and one blanket .. when I asked for extra … they have said ok but didn’t bring anything taking into consideration that if I need an extra bed I have to pay extra … but really , my reservation was for 3 .. and what I got was suitable for 2 … hotel location is near the airport near many restaurants too , but the roads and the general overview of the location was not that nice , really prefer to stay at hotel or just take taxis..

In general.. as I have said I was totally satisfied… would like to...

I do not consider this a 4 star hotel especially for the price. The downstairs lobby is nice but the upstairs and room are in need of remodeling. The room, sheets and blankets have a musty odor. The staff were very responsive and changed the sheets quickly, which was slightly better but still smelled musty. We were given one roll of toilet paper. The shower does not drain. Within a few minutes of being in the shower, my feet were under water. A hotel driver was arranged by our travel company to pick us up from the ferry. He asked a porter from inside to get us and our bags since he can’t physically go in. Having someone help us get our bags was appreciated due to the chaos. However, there were 2 porters used which we didn’t need (we had one small bag and one large) then they proceeded to aggressively demand 30,000 shillings each even though we didn’t request even one porter. The driver didn’t help us even though he was right there and we speak a little Swahili. We heard the porters tell the driver to not get involved. The driver told us on the way that he always asks the porters to help and didn’t know they were charging clients that much money and we should have asked the driver for help.
