Zinc 101 — Restaurant in Bang Chak Subdistrict

Went to watch Australian football. When I got there it was on the small TV. The rugby was on the large TV and no other customers were in the bar only the owner and 1 staff. I said to the owner “I wish you told me and I wouldn’t have come” in regard to it not being shown on large TV. Owner got very hostile and aggressive. I should have left then and there but decide to stay.

He ended up putting on the large TV after a few minutes but continued to carry on about my statement. I asked him politely to give it a rest and he kept going for next 10 minutes making me feel very uncomfortable. He made a snide remark saying I would probably sip a beer for the whole time.

Also kept saying he paid for the game just for me.

Well I didn’t sip a beer I bought the deluxe hamburger which actually was not too bad. I also consumed 2 cokes and a water over 2 hours.

Rudest owner I have ever experienced in Thailand in 20 years. The female server was good and polite.

I will never go back.

Used to go a lot last year with mates to watch the footy but moved away from the area. It was a good bar then.

I should stayed home and watch it with my WatchAFL...

Not as big as I expected but the experience was as chill as I thought it would be. This is now one of my regular bars as the music is good, the staff are friendly, and the prices are great.

The only negative is that the pool tables are always in use and you will need to ask the players to be included in the next game.

The spicy shrimp I ordered was not toned down for westerners and was pleasantly spicy. Westerners who are not keen on chili may need to ask for a less spicy version of the Thai dishes (the heathens).

Not for your casual tourist, but definitely for your local...

Zinc 101 has my favorite burgers 🍔. The proprietor, Dan, is not only a completely cool and chill guy with lots of great advice on Bangkok, he is also a perfectionist in making the best burgers. He has a special bakery where he gets buns that dissipate in your mouth. His beef is cut and blended from three primal cuts of Australian steer that is amazingly savory. An awesome atmosphere and I make a point of coming here when I am in Bangkok and get a longing for a great burger. If you have a Thai girlfriend/spouse, they have Thai food to make her...
